There's alotta songs with 3 chords.
DCG has a buncha classics
Three easy ones... only difference is the strumming patterns
Bad Moon Rising.. CCR
Used to Love Her...Guns n Roses
Do Ya ...ELO
All 3 songs use the same open DCG chords.

Everything you said is EXACTLY what I'm currently doing. Slowly but surely, I'm getting better though. I'm getting to the point where I don't have to look at the chords D, A and G to switch though.. that's good.. and I can use pinky G. Which is vital. You might be able to play it if I gave you the correct chordsmy bad.
DAG
You know the key is the strumming on that tune, and the chord changes are pretty quick.
I don't lift my index finger when switching from D to A..use it as an anchor and just slide it up a fret to make the A shape faster.
I try to find an anchor anytime I'm switching between chords, if it's possible.
I kinda neglected strumming patterns, when I first started...I think I played everything with down strokes..and then had to unlearn that habit. I also found to get fast, you have to play upstrokes, and certain songs require it.

Another super Easy one..
All open chords..standard tuning
Down strokes = d
Lola ...The Kinks
Intro...C chord
C ...d d..dd d d d and switch to
D ...2 times
Slide up to E ...strum 1 time
Song is E-A-D
So, after intro, I hold the E chord while individually picking 4th - 3rd- 1st - 2nd and repeating..4312..4312... this is optional..but it gives it a lil flava..
And then right into the chords EAD..
It's a classic, so I'm sure you should have no problem with when you make the switches from E-A- D..but if not, if you listen to it once, you'll have it. On a hollow body or acoustic, this sounds
@black again
Black, see if you can figure this one out. Seems simple enough. This beginning part is smooth as fuck!!!

I think its a pedal. But your a lifesaver with your technique points cause I'm currently going through some of the things you described. I have to do a better job of incorporating up strokes in my spider exercises, my chord and Arpeggio exercises as well. They are essential. I see how upstrokes help in playing Movin Out.Is that a wah wah in there?
Sounds like he's strumming up and down half muting to get that scratch sound.
Sometimes I won't even know the song, like this one, but I'll just play along to pick up the feel of the rhythm...
I was playing along with the 2nd 3rd 4th strings barred on the 8th fret and letting the 1st string kinda ring a lil.
I'm sure that's not how it's played on the song, but see how it sounds to you..
What I've found is the chords are often easy. It's the strumming pattern that is wayyy tougher...and makes the difference in your sound...it's that chica..chica sound you gotta make and you gotta keep your strumming hand moving.

Yup. That's what I need to do with these C scalesWe've made some similar mistakes.
I got to where I was playing scales. ONLY using downstrokes, and could eventually fly through em.
Then my son was like, nawlll. Practice em alternating up and down on each note.
You'll never get fast without being able to do that.
I sounded like a complete beginner
So, for the next few weeks, that's ALL I did.
It was like basically relearning the scales.
Prince absolutely snapped on that. He hit a zone and all everyone could do was just let him go offOne of the greatest solos of all time.
That lineup was crazy..
When someone asked Clapton what it felt like to be the greatest on guitar, he said you'd have to ask Prince.
On a sidenote...I always thought he was playing a Fender Tele, but that was a very inexpensive guitar..a Hohner maybe..but..I think he could make magic with whatever he touched.
Absolutely he could. One of the greatest solos of all time.

Working on those upstrokes with the C scales all over again. Just like you did.S'all good, fam...
That's partly why I've put up some really easy riffs...if you can learn something in a few minutes, it'll keep you engaged.
Then, you'll naturally start to push yourself, playing more difficult songs ...
