Maaaaaaaaaaaaaan..................just got the Gibson ES335 in. Had to let it in the case for 24hrs Sweetwater said to get the wood to get adjusted to your home temperature before playing it since it was only in the warehouse for a day there before being shipped out. Let me tell you...........THAT IS AN AMAZING GUITAR. So much easier for me to travel up and down the neck with the medium jumbo frets than the Professional II series Stratocaster. Guitar rings out amazing tones. Especially when doing blues licks. Muthafucker even smells good. Lawd have mercy. Much easier doing barre chords up the neck as well withy huge hands. This is no question a premier instrument. When you have something like this that sounds so good it makes you wanna practice more. Brings the creativity out even more. Been thinking about different chord progressions listening to the tone of this while playing. It really is like nuttin in that big tittie bitch you been wanting to fuck for the longest. The Ultra Luxe Stratocaster comes today. I'll post pics of both at the crib soon.

Teles are fun. you’ll enjoy it. The first one I played was a ’52. It was my teacher’s only guitar. Love the sheet metal tone when overdriven.I'm noticing the different sounds on guitars now. That's why I took Blacks advice and I'll get a Telecaster Ultra Luxe in my collection as well.

Awesome! Enjoy!@respiration @black again

Gonna need you and Black to help me set up my pedal board soon okay.Awesome! Enjoy!
I like that twang sound. Really good for fills and solosTeles are fun. you’ll enjoy it. The first one I played was a ’52. It was my teacher’s only guitar. Love the sheet metal tone when overdriven.
The only thing that saved me from going crazy was the fact I had to go to work all evening and overnight. Otherwise I would have been crying. Also, I think instead of getting the Fender Blues IV amp soon I think I'm gonna go with the Boss Katana Artist MKII. I like that one a little better compared to the Blues JR. I like the more modern look and the ton of preset and tones already jammed into the app. Still gonna get my pedal board set up to use on it clean. Your pedals will get more sound than any preset I'm learning as I go. The Ultra Luxe Stratocaster will be here in a matter of hours. God is good.@jack walsh13 ...

I KNOWWWWW that thang feels good!!
That musta been torture, having it and waiting for it to acclimate to your crib, before playing it.... I'm not sure I got the willpower for that.
There'd be a weekend long love fest, before I could put her down.
I'd be playing some smooth jazzy licks on her...been looking for a new tune to learn...I'm thinking Anniversary by Toni Tony Tone. That would sound AMAZING on your girl.
What you gon name her?
What kinda strings do you play? Is she perfect out the box or does she need to be set up?
Did you do an unboxing vid? I did one with my Reflex and Grote. I sound like a lil kid in them..
Bruhhh, enjoy
@respiration is the expert on equipment and pedals. I just have a lil Digitech processor.
But, I love to bounce ideas back and forth...glad you're getting a Tele. I LOVE mine. Matter of fact, I gotta finish fixing my Squier Tele...I prolly need to resolder a wire.
Good points. In all I'm thinking I really should get both Amps. That would be the best idea. Can't go wrong with both. And probably use the Blues Jr IV when I gig. I can't decide which will be my #1. I think it's disrespectful to choose. Especially how good the ES330 feels. It's just what Jesus wanted me to play. It's so versatile too. You can do anything with it. Still haven't opened the Ultra Luxe yet. Yup, it's the one wit the black painted headstock. Your right......anniversary would sound phenomenal on that ES335. I'm gonna mess with that. I'll probably do what I do when it comes to my basses. I play the P Bass one day than the Sadowsky J bass the next. That way, I appreciate and can recognize the sound and feel differences. So when it comes time for me to write music I'll know why I'm going to a special axe. Or recognize when I can add both. My main goal like Marcus Miller said is to create my own unique sound. And be diverse enough with it where I can literally do anything. Any gene of music. You have to vision it 1st before you can accomplish it. And I'm willing to learn all that it takes to get there. So I'm thinking I'll get the Katana 1st, then the Blues Iv. That's a nice amp collection right there. Don't forget, in about a year and a half comes my Yamaha Digital piano. Six months after that comes my Selmer Alto and Tenor Saxophones. I'm not fuckin around 1 bit. I will become a world renowned musician!!!Mannnnnnn, I'd be ok with letting it sit, cuz you still gotta break in the 335, but in a few days, you gonna have a helluva quandary as to which axe to pickup first. I can't wait to see which will be your #1.
Your Strat has the black headstock? My Tele's matches the body, and originally, I DIDN'T like it. I'm ol school and wanted the light maple head and the traditional Fender script.
It's the reason I didn't buy it, when I first saw it....it was too far away and didn't even realize what it was.
I hear guys on a guitar forum giving props to the Katana amp, but personally, I like the Blues Jr a lil more....from what I just heard. The Katana sounds more digital. However, I know I'll have to get into a store and play several to see which one I prefer irl. My phone speaker's not gonna do either sound justice.
I've seen a few other brands I'm not as familiar with...Blackheart, Orange, and also Katana, and I wanna try them all, before I decide.
I may even do a tube head...theres an Orange and Blackheart I saw for a few hundred bucks...5-15 watts and connect it to my KXR amp.
As it is, those small tube amps are pretty loud, supposedly...never would've thought a 5 watt amp would do the job, for just around the house.
Sheeeid, I had to put my large amps in the garage , cuz they're just ridiculous...they go from barely audible to ear splitting real fast.
Good lookin on those Breezin tabs!
Ima mess with that over the weekend.
I started looking at the tabs for Anniversary and Lay Your Head on My Pillow...them joints would sound like butter on that 335.

![]()
Absolutely. I thought I mentioned to you I'm taking a song writing class with H.E.R through Studio.com. She's a musical genius. I will track my progression like you said.DEFINITELY get both!
Sheeid, I got 4 amps...just because, and am looking for a tube now.
H.E.R. has y'all writing songs? That's dope!
Learn by doing.
Man, you should be documenting your journey with as many pics, vids, notes, and recordings of your playing, to show your progression.
I tell my son, all the time, that writing is the key...whether you can play a lil or are a virtuoso, the guy who can write a song, which people connect with can make serious money.
That was right on time man.@jack walsh13
I check out this forum all the time for info, and this question was super-timely, cuz I'm looking for an inexpensive tube amp, and someone had the same question.
I wanna learn this

That color is nice. And yeah the pickup setup on there is nice tooI want that sea foam strat, just like that one, with the large headstock...I'd prolly prefer an SSS, but the HSS will do.
Ok, here's my review of the guitars. I'll start with the last one I plaed.....the Ultra Luxe Stratocaster. ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. Stainless steel frets do make a difference. Makes the action faster up and down the neck. Even for an intermediate player such as myslef. You feel the difference compared to the Professional II series. Now barring frets further up the neck is much more managable for my huge hands. I have more space barring an F7maj on the 8th fret now. I've been working on open 7major chords though. My chord changes are much faster. Now that's in part due to my continued practice but the smoothness of the frets certainly helps. The D shaped neck is very comfortable. Much more than a c shaped/ tall narrow fret combo. Medium Jumbo frets are my new best friend. I can certainly tell the difference between a Rosewood and Maple fretboard. The Rosewood feels a tad bit more grainy if you will. Doesn't bother me, just notice it. I do miss the ultra smoothness of a maple fret, which is why I will take your advice and get a Ultra Luxe Telecaster in about two years. After I get the digital piano and both Saxaphones. That Telecaster will have a Maple fretboard. Overall the Ultra Luxe Stratocaster is worth the upgrade over the Professional II series. One more thing about Stainless Steel frets......they dig into your fingers more than nickle frets. I played for about 5 hours one day. Breaks in between. But it's very comfortable. Much better for string bending and sliding. I tried "Brezzin" on the Strat. It was amazing how easy and smoothly I was able to transition from the 12-14 ot the 10-12 and back to the 14-15. With room to spare even with my huge fingers. Would have been harder for me with the Pro II. Beast of a Guitar. Now.......onto the Gibson.Bruh, I been messing with this for a few days...kinda got the main riff, but it's a long tune...would require ALOT of work to get it all down. And to do it justice, I'd need to learn it by heart...no way I can read tabs and play at the same time, and make it sound melodic.
Gimme a review on your new pieces.
You had em for a few days...how's the new Strat vs the old one you had?
How's that Gibby? What you jamming on it?
Drop a pic of your sunburst lineup ..
Walsh and @respiration ...you ever rediscover some gear you had and didn't use a lot originally?
As I said, previously, I been looking for a tube amp...just ordered one, and I made a space in the garage to play my larger amps, I plugged in to my Performer 650...
Its tube, but on the distortion channel, and I'd rather it was on the clean one...but I got it for almost nothing, so I ain't complaining.
The main problem, tho, is that mofo is too damn loud! At 1 1/2 volume, it's too much, unless I'm home alone...and no headphones jack.
But, I played it clean yesterday and I was surprised how good the tone was. It sounded nice playing Breezin, and I Been Thinking Bout You by Tony Toni Tone.
I'ma have to find a way to use it more..

@black again
Now you know when you order any instrument from Sweetwater they do a professional photoshoot of it before they send it. So you can get extra excited about it before it get here. I think that's cool they do that. These are the actual two guitars of mine. By the way......the Gibson smells like vanilla too. It's what God would play bruh. Just a dream come true. The painted headstock on the Strat is a premiun look. I'm gonna have to take it to Guitar Center to get them to take the plastic off the pick guard though. Saw a Youtube video on how to do it. No way I'm fuckin wit that.I should be able to take the plastic ogg the Gibson pick guard. For some reason the Gibson pics not loading. Let me try those again.

I'll beat the livin shit outta anyone I see leavin that goddam sticker on their guitar and throw them head 1st out of an window. For now I put them in the case when I'm finished playing. When I finish my basement I'm gona have a small studio down there. I'll get a nice rack to display them in then. I'll get a humidifier to control the temp in the room also. A good one. Guitars like this are like big tittie, phat ass women, they need to be shown off. Not covered up. I can't wait to try the Beginning of Breezin on the Gibson!!!!You know, I've seen people leave that sticker on the pickguard and that drives me nuts...that would have to go...that's like a bumper sticker on a Rolls Royce.
I agree about the nicer guitars make you wanna play all day.
If you're practicing for 5 hours, that's serious work!
My thing, tho, is I'd wanna look at em like a piece of art...no way I'd wanna put them away, but depending on the weather and humidity, it may be best to keep em in a climate controlled case.
I need to put some lemon oil on a few of the necks of mine...looking a lil dry.
Do you have a dedicated music room?
Yeah. I wanted 1 all black guitar. I agree I love the ivory tuning pegs. Gives it a very elegant look. Trade in's are a good idea as well. I know you can't wait for that amp. My son has a little league game tonight. I took off from work so I can work on some blues licks and Brezzin on the Gibby tonight. Wife bet not ask me for shit!!!Mannnnn, those are NIIIICE!
Just noticed the 335 isn't sunburst...
I love those tuning pegs on it...I tried to get some like that for my 335 copy...to give it a lil more Gibson flava.
Alotta LPs have a greenish tint peg and I went for that look...
The ones I got online were just cheap plastic, so I got the pearly ones instead.
Waiting on my amp like a lil kid.... hopefully I'll have it in the next 3 or 4 days.
It's time to start letting some stuff go. I'm tryna do more trades than outright buying of stuff....hit a dude up today to trade an old Strat for one of my pieces.
