Well I agree it should be rare and only as a last resort. So I'm going to go with the party that caused abortion rates to fall to their lowest since 1972 due to the ACA covering contraceptives (Thanks Obama) and allowing husbands and wives to decide when they start a family and not the party that wants to ban contraceptives because they see it as subverting God's will to reproduce, but don't mind subverting God's will NOT to reproduce by supporting viagra for men regardless of marital status.

I'm going to vote for the party that wants women to have affordable prenatal and health care to ensure a healthy baby and be more likely to lead to adoption instead of abortion in the case of an unwanted pregnancy. A party that supports a living wage to be able to afford a family. Paid family leave to care for the child, if needed. Workplace protection to have a job after the baby is born. Affordable child care. Affordable education. Food assistance if needed to feed the child. If you care about families and children like you claim to, if you want to see thriving black families like you claim to, then voting dem will lead to that outcome faster than voting GOP. The GOP is opposed to all that.

Not necessarily. We'd all get killed. The solution is more along the lines of why did the civil rights bill get passed? It wasn't because white people grew a conscience or because the boycotts were effective. It's not a conversation I want to have on BGOL though. The Palestinians don't have what we had in the 60's because Israel is not the US.

We need power, and we alone as black people don't have it. We didn't have it initially in the 60's either. But what worked back then would at least steer us in the right direction right now.

As for voting, there are democratic politicians that 100% support reparations for black people, but it doesn't matter. Malcolm X could be the president right now with MLK as the vice president, and we're still not getting reparations. White people are going to block it forever.

The reparations argument is a pointless carrot in front of the horse gimmick that opportunists use to sell products to stupid people. If someone tells you they are going to do something if they get in power, and you know they are good for it, is it fear or simply common sense to be prudent and attempt to avoid an outcome I don't want? I don't have any kids and I'm past childbearing age at this point. My niece tho? She wants to have a baby. She miscarried a couple of years ago, and she is currently pregnant and on bedrest. She was carrying twins and lost one. I don't want her to be in a situation where she ends up in jail because the GOP is so hellbent on stopping abortion that they see EVERY failed pregnancy as intentional. Her sister had an ectopic pregnancy a couple of years ago. There are some on the GOP that want no intervention for those either, even though the woman can bleed to death and there is no way the fetus can be viable. Since they have problems carrying pregnancy to term, I'd also like for contraceptives to be available so they can choose when to try again, and members of the GOP are on the record for wanting to ban contraceptives as well. So I need to look out for someone besides myself.

I'm also a Christian, but I understand the dangers of legalism and the people trying to turn this country into a theocracy. As much as people around here disparage all things religious and the "white man's religion" you'd think that would be one more motivating factor to vote dem, to keep the separation of Church and State.

In order to get Americans on board with reparations, they would have to be educated about the true history of slavery in this country, as well as the lingering effects. This is part of the reason our history is under attack. Why do you need reparations if slavery was just a means for you to learn job skills that personally benefited you? It's hard to discern real tweets from bots now, but read any of the comments on tweets about reparations.
