Wild that Bruce Bochy has managed over 4,000 games, is 8 games under 500 for his career, yet has 4 ‘ships and has taken 3 different teams to the WS and won it with two of them.

You could never do that in any sport have that many rings and be under .500. Traditional lineups are a thing of the past. You put your "best" hitters at the top of the lineup in order to get them an extra at bat or two. His OBP was in the Top 50. I think he's a good manager for this team, the issue is that it's very feast or famine and both playoff runs ended when the team got cold. The philosophy of "Just get to the playoffs and then turn it on" won't work in a year or two when the team is mid 30s with no real farm system on the way in terms of heavy hitters.
No. Its stupid still because 1, he clogs the basepath. It's still wise to have speed at the top of the lineup. You can manufacture more runs with speed. Puts more pressure on the defense and the pitcher. That will never change. 2, you have Turner and Stott. They should be 1 and 2. PERIOD!!!! With Harper hitting 3rd. For a man to have 47home runs with 104 RBI's is absolutely attrocious. Dude should be in the 130 range, and would be with Turner, Stott and Harper hitting in front of him. 3, he has Bohm or Reamulto for protection in the lineup after him. You wouldn't wanna fool around with Schwarber if he was hitting clean up with Turner, Harper or Stott on base because Bohm or J.T. can hurt you. You can argue he would get better pitches to hit in those scenarios rather than just no one on base.
