Not going to find many people serving full, uncompressed blu ray rips and good luck trying to stream them without buffering over the internet. That's 70-80 GB per movie.

Transfer VHS to digital like magicI still need to find a VCR, I was going through my old boxes and I have all of these [non-porn..lol] VHS tapes from the 90s and early 2000s...lol. I probably gotta go to the Goodwill or find one on Amazon.
Why would you say that?Just left Best Buy.... Been there 4/5 times this year, every time I leave I say damn cant wait for them to close this, it hurts my heart to see what it has become.
Why would you say that?
Why would you want a big business to close and people lose their jobs?
People that could be buying your products?
I’m still mad Best Buy took out circuit city.. circuit city was my go to.. had a bunch of highschool friends that ended up working there and use to get their employee discount on vid cameras, tvs, dvd players, etc.. plus when they had a commission based pay it made a bunch of my friends generate 60-80,000 a yr or more at the age 18.. several of my friends was getting paid straight out of highschool working at circuit city in the late 90s.. circuit city memoriesThe business is horrendous, every time I go there to 'support' as a brick and mortar it's a worse experience.....
This has nothing to do with people buying my product. When you come in my store you get amazing products and even more you get amazing customer service for said product.
Best Buy is not keeping the US economy afloat, and if a business is not good, it should close to to make way for another business.
Great idea! Let's keep giving these giant corporations more control over what we watch and when! We'll just pay for a licence to watch it digitally that can get taken away at any time!
This is another a good thing.
Exactly this, not to mention quality and god forbid the Internet is down when it comes to streaming. This is exactly what people don't understand.
You pay the exact same price for a digital purchase as you would for a physical copy with the difference being your "ownership" of the digital copy is only good while the company you purchased it from is licensed to sell/carry it. If that company loses that license or goes out of business your ownership of that product no longer exists.
On top of that they're charging you the same price for both despite the fact that the digital copy doesn't come with the cost of manufacturing the disc, case etc. and then shipping them.
There’s a few YouTube content creators that deal with vidgame genre that’s been bringing up this topic for the past several months about why people need to be demanding physical copies for vid games. They were discussing how places like GameStop were having fewer physical games and how getting old copies of games were getting harder to find. They collectors and vidgame lovers and were expressing how physical copies is one of the biggest things that need to be kept alive for many reasons( some that you stated)Exactly this, not to mention quality and god forbid the Internet is down when it comes to streaming.
A 4k disc kept safely will last your life when kept in proper conditions, companies can decide to take scenes out of streamed movies with changing times, censor movies, eliminate entire shows(just look at Westworld on HBO max)
People are choosing to give these companies unprecedented control and power over their media.
Good luck with that.
To see how true this is just read the fine print the next time you "buy" a digital game and see exactly what you're paying money for... Not a game but a license that allows access that can be revoked at any time, the server can be pulled offline at any time, the content in your game can be disabled, changed, removed, censored or altered in any way shape or form that they see fit. They know that nobody reads the fine print and most people think they're actually buying a game and not just basically renting it.There’s a few YouTube content creators that deal with vidgame genre that’s been bringing up this topic for the past several months about why people need to be demanding physical copies for vid games. Ummm once video comes into play it’s vastly differentI also get that most people don't really care about having the best quality, so I'm in the minority. Reminds me of the MP3 vs CD quality debate at the beginning of music streaming.
Those discounts don’t apply to commissionI’m still mad Best Buy took out circuit city.. circuit city was my go to.. had a bunch of highschool friends that ended up working there and use to get their employee discount on vid cameras, tvs, dvd players, etc.. plus when they had a commission based pay it made a bunch of my friends generate 60-80,000 a yr or more at the age 18.. several of my friends was getting paid straight out of highschool working at circuit city in the late 90s.. circuit city memories
This was a great DVD. I foolishly destroyed all my porn dvds. About 10 years ago.Bad Idea. I love my DVD collection although it's all old school music. It's something about having a physical DVD. I got this classic stashed away in my closet...
I clearly was pointing out 2 diff situations and how circuit city was good to me and my friends. In fact I benefitted a few times from their commission due to sometimes I would randomly drop by my friend's job to just chop it up and for some reason random customers would think I work there and ask me questions. I would get on my salesman shit and convince some Cac to buy some expensive item or items and well since it would be near my people's they would get credit for the sale and my boys would just be like next paycheck I got you on that. In fact several managers and staff wanted me to work there but I fronted cause they more likely wasn't going to give me Saturday and Sunday off. Nig needed the weekend off especially during the summerThose discounts don’t apply to commission
I agree 100%.Target, Walmart, and Amazon still sell them for now.
There is no substitute for 4k Blu-rays. Streaming is good enough quality for most people so most don't care about discs.
These companies want to make money by forcing you to join their subscription service to see the movie while also cutting bandwidth cost by reducing the quality of the stream.
I've compared the streaming version of films to their disc counterparts. There's audio effects that are straight up missing on streaming. They're not trying to stream DTS HD-MA/Dolby True HD. I don't think the streamers support DTS-X either, just Dolby Atmos.
HDR is significantly brighter on the disc than streaming.
4k discs ensure that you are getting the true home theater experience.
Don't disrespect your OLED and sound system by streaming the movie.

For pirates it's not as bad, but the amount of space you need to get full rips is quite large and you're still depending on people posting rips online.I understand your point but I've yet to find digital content that can't be downloaded. And SSDs have come down and will continue to drop. Their lifespan is comparable to disks. And NVMes are coming on strong with even better storage profiles.
I think many people don't care about quality because they can't see it. The interface has not been well received. 4k, 6k, devices with little to no media support. People see proper 1080i and think it's fine; they don't need anything else. And there's plenty of HD content and nearly every device can show it. The other formats, not so much.
I'm the opposite, except for selecting great games I'm not one to play the same game over and over again so I mostly buy digital(especially on Xbox with game pass) and switch since it's portable and I don't want to carry around games.for video games I still prefer physical
everything else movies, music i couldn't care less about physical

Yeah I agree, imo they've purposely dumbed down society and they can't even fathom nor care at the repercussions of not own the media you pay money for, and what it means going forward.
The all digital future will suck.
