Best Buy plans to stop selling physical media such as 4K/Blu-Rays & DVDs possibly as soon as end of Q1 2024

Ubisoft executive suggests you become comfortable not owning things

Exactly, I don't see how people don't get this.

I'm going to continue buying my movies and games on disc as long as I can.

I think with so many streaming platforms now that are constantly removing content people might have finally started to realize the lack of control they really have and how it limits their options.

Man, that's why I have an external hard drive filled with docs and films & books, it's a whole universe of media.

What will they do with the unsold physical copies? That is the question. Cause I know those items will be worth more now or in the future since this will create a whole new market of individuals looking for physical copies only

They will most likely go to places like this

Just bought a 20 TB. Still don't have enough room with the two12 TB two 10 TB two 8 TB. Next year I'm gonna grab two 22 TB. I have never trusted that streaming shit bra. I hate to spend the ends on DVDS because they raise the price on old shows like Jamie Foxx running about $50 per season on some spots. Foxx ran for 5 seasons but I gotta grab it.

The torrent I had was ok quality.

It's circling the drain- the best show ideas are going into bringing people to a streaming service. Then those companies don't put the popular stuff on disc: Star trek, star wars, netflix exclusive films. I like buying my media but most theater releases haven't been great, blame the pandemic (?). Then also home releases have gotten very bare bones, I'm not spending $20+ to rent or buy just the film. Next best option is a high quality download, no variable streaming bit rates...

you will eventually, someday, fill those drives. look at it like this, with all that space, you don't have to settle for DVD quality video (that you paid for), and can instead get 720p/1080p/4k content.
