This is probably the best place to introduce her because she has her own show coming next year
She wasn't forced. She was part of the plot and this was a good way to introduce her before her show. Now we don't need an origin.
I don't get it. We constantly ask for more black representation and then when we get it, we find reasons to not like it.
I agree it was the best place to introduce her but outside of Boston, she didn't add much to the story. If you cut out the rest of her scenes, it doesn't change the movie.
If you think about it, she was central to the story because she created the Vibranium detector and this is primarily what brought the conflict between the two nations. In the grand scheme of things she really didn't contribute anything other than the suit, but she was extremely vital to the story.
Side Note: This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I think the fight between Okoye and big dude on the bridge was better than the fight between Shuri and Namor. This is one of the reasons T'Challa should have been recast, but the movie was great and it made more sense to me at the end because there is another T'Challa on his way in this universe.
The overseas numbers came in higher than early estimates...
It still has a shot at a billion. A lot depends on what happens domestically. Wakanda Forever has better critic and audience scores than Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder. Black and Latino audiences showed up, but there was a smaller percentage of white moviegoers compared to Black Panther. And for all the folks with a certain hashtag causing a ruckus on Twitter, the opening weekend Black audience was the roughly the same/slightly higher percentage points than 2018.

Like I said earlier... it is not mandatory that other Heroes appear in EVERY single MCU solo movie.
But YOU seem to think it is.

- Iron Man is DEAD. So he can't make any cameos.
- Black Widow is DEAD. Neither can she.
- Vision is DEAD. Scratch him off your wishlist.
- Scarlett Witch is DEAD. A building collapsed on her in Doctor Strange 2.
- Peter Parker erased everyone's memory. So he cannot make any 'quick cameos' in Wakanda... since NOBODY remembers him as Spider-Man anymore.
- Captain America is "living his best life" in a whole different timeline with Peggy Carter, somewhere in the Multiverse. After all of his time traveling, he is more than 175+ years old by the time Wakanda Forever takes place. But more importantly, at the very end of Endgame, he is literally seen dancing with Peggy Carter in an alternate branch of the Multiverse & that's the very LAST time he has ever been seen alive. So he doesn't know T'Challa is dead in his alternate timeline. Scratch his name off your 'quick cameo' wishlist too.
- Most of the events of the "Thor: Love & Thunder" movie happen on distant alien planets. Producer Nate Moore stated in an interview with CinemaBlend that Wakanda Forever takes place AT THE VERY SAME TIME as the events of Thor: Love & Thunder and almost at the very same time as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. So scratch off Ant-Man, Thor & all the Guardians of the Galaxy off your 'quick cameo' wishlist. They were all busy dealing with their own movie storyline events.
- After almost getting killed by the Scarlett Witch... Doctor Strange is busy battling his own inner demons (and a 3rd eye), somewhere in the Multiverse. He is not making any cameos or sending his condolences from a random branch of the Multiverse.
- The Hulk's whole storyline pretty much ended with AVENGERS: ENDGAME. Because he has too many (real-life) contractual issues that prevent his character from appearing in 'quick cameos' in other marvel properties. Right now, he's only been allowed to make a brief cameo to help sell the She-Hulk series on Disney+. So he wouldn't have been able to appear in the Wakanda Forever movie. For any reason. Regardless of "how quick" his acknowledgment would've been.
- Hawkeye & War Machine cannot even FIND Wakanda on a map. Much less go there. Or send a text message to acknowledge the funeral. They don't even know how to reach anyone INSIDE Wakanda on their own, because Nick Fury & Tony Stark was their "point of contact" & handled ALL the diplomatic shit for BOTH of them.
- The Falcon & The Winter Soldier ran afoul of Wakanda during their 6-episode Disney+ series. They freed Baron Zemo from prison. The same man who killed King T'Chaka of Wakanda.
When the Dora Millaje finally took Zemo back into custody... Ayo warned Bucky to lay low. She said DO NOT show your faces in Wakanda for awhile. Because Wakanda has not completely forgiven these 2 for their actions involving Zemo. That was the LAST thing Bucky ever heard from Wakanda. So scratch both of their names off your 'quick cameo' / acknowledgment wishlist too.
Ain't nobody left to make a 'quick cameo'... or acknowledge that T'Challa died.
Sure, it's a connected universe.

I'm curious to hear what unnecessary subplots and characters you had for this movie. I've seen it twice and maybe it's my connection to the story, but I do not see much unnecessary in this movie.
I can understand a purpose for much if not everything in this movie. I'm a writer so I get the rhyme and reason, but also, Namor has Wakanda over a barrel because everyone thinks that wakanda is behind all of the terrorist attacks and murders that Namor and his people are behind
Namor and his people kill all Witnesses so there is no one alive who has seen Namor or any of his people, and you want us to keep your secret so everyone thinks we did all of this fuck shit?

I honestly couldn't tell you... I just was on there this weekend and it was one of the featured shows on the banner... it's got Robin Roberts interviewing Ryan Coogler, Whoopi Goldberg interviews Chadwick Boseman's wife, then they talk about the music and the costume design. It looks to have been some sort of 20/20 or GMA special that aired shortly before the movie came out. I had never seen it so it was very interesting to me. That costume designer and the composer seemingly put in lots of work to make the movie as authentic as possible, traveling to Africa, getting African musical artists, learning about the Mayan culture, etc.
I have a hard time believing Ryan Coogler and Joe Robert Cole had a eureka moment in the middle of the script and said, "You know what's missing? Agent Ross and Valentina playing cat and mouse!" They added little and could easily have been cut. Martin Freeman had a much better role in the first film. This felt like a setup for Thunderbolts or something else down the road in the MCU.
The rest are small nitpicks:
Michaela Coel's Aneka. I liked her performance and the character, but for all the attention her casting got in the press, it turned out to be a tiny role. I would have preferred to see Florence Kasumba's Ayo with a more expanded role. M'Baku could've had more screen time as well.
Overall, I didn't think this story needed a bunch of new side characters, especially when you're busy introducing Namor and establishing Talokan. On top of all that, you're trying to transform a comedic supporting character into the lead. Streamlining or cutting some side characters might shaved a few minutes off the running time and lessened pacing issues.
Anything that is added in order to push the Marvel Universe forward is acceptable. Even if it's unwanted, it's acceptable.
I agree that Martin Freeman's character was much better utilized in the first black panther, but his purpose in the first black panther was to push the story forward, and explaining to him he allowed them to explain to us things we didn't know about wakanda and the usage of vibranium.
I'm doing the same thing and one of the novels I'm working on using the main character and her lack of knowledge of the family Secret, as the family explains the secret to her they're explaining it to the reader
I also agree with you on Michaela Coel and much of her character being unnecessary. I would have much more preferred Florence kasumba having an expanded role, especially since she is now General
The unnecessary inclusion of the LGBT shit and Michaela coel and Florence Kasumba being in a relationship though they never showed any type of romantic connection at all was pointless
this is the biggest criticism. Ir was like Ryan said "oh, here you go gay people, now leave me the fuck alone". But i did learn that they have a relationship in the comics. Hopefully that was the first and last mention of it. But i think there is going to be a show based on the Dora coming to Disney, unless they abandoned it.

he was just introduced though. He was chilling underwater until he was provoked. He had no reason to be unlikable before then. He was minding his business. Even when they bought the shit to his doortstep, he tried to negotiate with Wakanda, but his terms were not reasonable. I'm sure in time, he will become the asshole we all know. Poor Reed and Susan.
In actuality if the inventor was white and older shuri would’ve gave him up to namor to kill.. but because the inventor was a black teen she had a conscious.. they literally went to war over a teenage girl
You're a writer. You know how it goes. If characters or scenes can be removed without significantly altering the story, they don't belong. You haven't done your job. And to make matters worse, the Ross and Valentina stuff didn't have a good payoff. Was the colonizer in chains joke worth it?
Instead of shoehorning, it could've been a post-credit scene like they did with Bucky in Black Panther.
Show me a post credit scene with a herd of goats grazing and a bored W'kabi watching over them. When suddenly, Val pops up with her card and an intriguing offer, maybe I would have felt differently.
When the deleted character-driven scenes pop up in a few months, the Ross-Valentina scenes will feel even more unwanted.
The first film had the same problem with the underdeveloped relationship between W'Kabi and Okoye.
