So, word is Ryan coogler had different plans for Wakanda forever and Disney got involved

As much as I would have loved for them to recast T'Challa, there are 2 major hurdles:

Due to Hollywood's own failures to give Black male actors true opportunities to star and shine in non-stereotypical roles, what actor do you think could have picked up the mantle?

Also 3 of the most well-known quality Black actors, Chewitetl Ejiofor, Sterling K. Brown, Michael B. Jordan, had already been utilized in the MCU. Who is left?

Secondly, the actor would have had to have Supreme acting talent, strong shoulders and thick skin. The lack of true Hollywood opportunities hurts the possibility of finding someone with Supreme acting Talent.

The strong shoulders and thick skin is necessary for someone who would be chosen to follow a legend undaunted. I can't even think of an actor who could have potentially been cast as T'Challa, so thank you Hollywood for all the years of black actors being chosen for gang member number one

Obviously they had to make changes durnto bisemans passing.

Ok real talk....

Marvel winning an acting Oscar means MORE to Feige than another billion dollar movie.

Agree or disagree?

Money matters most but an Oscar win for Best Supporting Actress would be a great consolation prize. It's a good look for the Marvel brand and temporarily silences critics who think they make superficial content.

Disagree with all that is going on with Disney from an investor point it's ALWAYS about the money. They give Oscars to anyone it's not that prestigious anymore.

stop it

but I am talking HSTROY and LEGACY here.

DC STILL brags about Heath and Phoneix and will ALWAYS.

It means something when the machine DECIDES it means something

The previous Oscars and awards Black Panther won ARE SIGNIFICANT.

Now awards as a WHOLE is an entirely different conversation that is gonna get real convulated.

But in THIS specific situation?

Marvel REALLY wants this Oscar.

You stop it The Dark Knight and Joker are billion dollar movies :roflmao: . It's ALWAYS going to come back to the money which is what really matters there was a time where they would say a black superhero movie wouldn't be profitable. The bottom line is what will always be important not cacs giving away a Oscar.

I think we saying the same thing

the answer to ALL the questions?

Is money.

when someone says its NOT about the money?

Its about the money.

I'm saying to SELECT corporations and studios?

They VALUE awards MORE and have the machine to PROFIT off them more

And the Oscar for Marvel Disney (and Feige) is about MONEY and STATUS

cause let me tell you EGO has a WHOLE lot to do with ALL this.

You can choose to believe it or not.

I don't do social media so I don't listen to or know what some paid bots probably said. What I know is what I saw with people in the theatre after 3 hrs nobody clapped and we was all ready to go.

I won't go so far as to say they were pushing an agenda but they were in a rough spot and put themselves in a corner not recasting.

Bro I know a LOT of people who actually run theatres in some of the biggest markets

And I ain't NEVER heard that in even the emptiest of theatres

But if you say so I believe

White people love to think we don't do math when their math ain't matching.

So if Wakanda Forever beat Violent Nightevery day from Friday to Sunday projections, how does Violent Night have the #2 spot for the weekend?

I think I'm going to see you Violet night this week but buy a ticket for wakanda forever

So if Wakanda Forever won Friday AND Saturday AND Sunday, how did Violent Night come in 2nd? Thats some bullshit

I've said this before, who out there could have successfully transitioned to Black Panther, and with the strong shoulders to take on that tas7k

I've heard Y'lan Noel as a name used who potentially could have taken the mantle, but there are different types of people who were going to watch/review this movie

There would be a faction of people who wouldn't like his performance regardless of how well he did and would critique him partially, from his accent to the way he takes over a scene (or doesn't).

It's hard as fuck to have people dissing you on interviews, on social media and every movie reviewing site known to man as they nitpick every part of your character and you not defend yourself

They could have gone with an unknown, someone who has been working off Broadway or even on Broadway, but the same issue lies. He would have to have strong shoulders to be able to deal with the bullshit that came his way because people were going to compare him to Chadwick Boseman For Better or Worse

While I do admit, that besides Lord M'Baku, there isnt/wasn't/hasn't been a prominent male in the series thus far and that needs to change.

Yes, they missed an opportunity for T'Challa to have a Black male council, some childhood friends or something, because besides W'Kabi (Daniel Kaluuya) I can't name another significant dude. It's a shame that you can't prop up black men and black women simultaneously, and either Marvel or the writer/director chose only to prop up Black women

I also didn't get the feeling that everybody was just ready to go. People clapped when I was there and there were a lot of people crying because of the end. I was

The new writer for the Black Panther comic is Eve Ewing. First time a black female has ever written the comic. This was a surprise to me, I was hoping they’d pick Geoffrey Thorne or Al Ewing.

It's easy to say no one else could do it when you didn't give anyone a shot.

I'm willing to bet there are male black actors who are more talented then you give them credit for. Out there waiting for a shot.

Also, I hate to break it to you guys, but BP isn't even close to Boseman's hardest role. Guys, let's not kid ourselves, the movies are fun, but actors aren't digging deep in their bag to pull off those performances. I loved Boseman as BP of course but it's not because of any memorable acting performances.

I disagree.

I don't know if anyone on here is truly qualified to define what acting role is "hardest". Cause we seen actors use the method, starve themselves, gain weight, train, study for years...

And still not deliver to the publics expectations.

The challenge of taking that role was immense.

He was really the first black lead superhero for the MCU. Millions were watching and hoping and expecting.

When he came on screen for the first time and jumped those stairs and that close up?

You think thats EASY?

You think that just anyone can sell that? Deliver that?

Be iconic?

I salute ALL THOSE ACTORS who take those roles and just nail it.

They SUPPOSED to make it look easy.

Chadwick BECAME Black Panther.

On and off the screen.

RDJ is Tony Stark PERIOD. So is Chris Evans. All Jokers except Leto, Harley animated and live action, etc etc

The personification of comic book characters myths legends.

Same goes for any actor that takes something off the page and gives it life weight and agency.

And it ain't easy.

And being T'Challa was hard then and will be even harder next time.
