The primary flaws I see with the voting is the understanding that this is for 1st ballot HOF not overall HOF. Combine that with the fact that some of the nominees are only recognized by OGs, we have skewed voting taking place because some of the voters have no knowledge or experience with the nominees but are still allowed to vote on them resulting. Unfortunately I have no idea how to rectify that issue. Just recognizing & pointing out the inherent flaws itself.

What folks are mad at is the no vote especially when people dont know who they are voting no on. They should abstain or do some homework to make a real decision.
It's working

me not liking the results is not an accurate decider

However I wondered with the troll votes is there any way to perhaps

have a "margin for error"

there are OBVIOUS bullsh*t NO votes that skew the overall numbers and percentages.

If the no votes are the issue, then the only way to negate that is to not set a threshold on the "no" votes.

Keep the 80/20 system, but don't let the "no" votes determine the outcome immediately.

Run for 48 hours. If it gets to 80 "yes" votes before 20 "no" votes, then make it an automatic induction.

If "no" votes reach 20 before 80 "yes" votes, then continue to run the poll for the rest of the 48 hours and determine the induction on an 80% threshold. For example, at the end of 48 hours, there are 147 total votes, then 118 "yes" votes are needed to make induction. That can negate possible trolling on the "no" votes and Slam can keep his original 80% threshold.

Not even going to front. I think I’m kind of impressed with myself on that one. After I read it, I was like “damn, that doesn’t sound too bad.”

My current algebra class will be doing something similar as this voting process. It’s just ratios and proportions.

And if “yes” votes doesn’t make it to 80 votes and “no” votes doesn’t make it to 20 at the end of 48 hours, then induction should be denied even if “yes” votes still makes the 80% threshold.

For example, out of 86 total votes, there are 69 “yes” votes. That’s technically 80%, but the “yes” votes did surpass the required minimum of 80 “yes” votes, do induction should be denied.

Good idea but I think the current system should stay for the integrity of the others who were denied.

I said this in another thread...are we going to get a redo because this makes no sense..like a lot of these young cats don't understand the impact these women had on the board..it's like basketball, "I don't see why Oscar Robertson is such a big deal" :hmm:

I disagree

if the integrity is ALREADY being questioned

why not FIX IT now?

and we can also continue on and have those denied given another shot

so its all fair.

The trolling part is bad. I do think a lot of the no votes though is that people dont have any clue who they are voting on. In that case I wish they would abstain or atleast do enough homework to make a good decision.

this is not an instance of an electoral college at all.

all of this is based on sports HOF induction, baseball journalists vote for baseball's HOF. a 48 person group of media members vote for the football HOF. it should be similar here.
Nah, some cats are saying that some people’s votes should count more or less than others. That’s on some delegate superdelegate shit since we’re in election season.

Yeah that Fisher-Price PC has got it going on. That 80/20 is the shit. Let's see if the management is willing to adopt a slight change.

S/B less labor intensive and that's always a good thing.
