After awhile the drinks got the best of you and you needed to lay down (going home was an option, but you needed to rest your eyes and get your faculties together). Carolyn suggested that you relax in the bedroom that Verna was staying in and Verna was kind enough to walk you into the room.
Verna was very nice and suggested that you sit up in the reclining chair and that she would bring you a cool washcloth to place over your eyes to help you relax.
Maybe the alcohol was making you see things, and maybe you imagined that Verna was sitting on the bed in front of you trying to suggest that she had the "perfect cure" for a hangover.

The funny thing about life is that you tend to know people from "all walks of life," and whether you agree or disagree with what they might do to earn a living you just tended to accept them as a person (the same way the accept you as a person).

A few years back a very good female friend was telling me about this "Strange mother-daughter" situation. The mother was a single parent and was living with her teenage daughter, who was probably around 17 or 18. From what she was telling me there was this "rivalry" between the mother and the daughter and this became apparent when the mother starting dating this one particular guy.
