Your friend who lives in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn has a bit of a dilemma. Some of the women that attend his church need a coach for the boy's basketball team and because he mentioned that he played in college they thought he would be good for the job.
Part of him wants to help the kids (ages 9 - 13), but he's not sure if he wants to devote his time? That was part of his problem, his other problem was Ms. Calabrese. Ms. Calabrese moved into the area about 2 years ago with her boyfriend, Darnell (good brother who works as an Attorney for the Legal Aid Society).
Unfortunately, things didn't work out, he moved out, but he still comes around and spends time with their 11 year old son, Anthony. Nevertheless, Ms. Calabrese also approached him about coaching also (she attends the church too).
Knowing that he is a bachelor, Ms. Calabrese invited him over because she had recently baked a Red Velvet Cake and offered him some as an inducement to get him to coach.
I guess she figures if he coaches that her son Anthony should get more playing time?
