Watching it now. Never heard of the games or anything about it. I like it so far. Looks like they spent some money on this one. Lots of action popping off from the jump. I don't get the hate.

I think people expect for the movie to resemble the game they like in the first place, I think they expect for studios not to cast all the roles poorly with a bunch of geriatrics who don't fit the characters and Kevin hart the tiny little fuck as a bad ass. I think they expect dialogue better than the cringe level reached in the jcvd street fighter movie, they also expect at this point not to be able to call out the scenes that where blatantly filmed on green screens and then finished with barely industry standard CGI. They expect for the story to make sense and not be filled with tons of exposition, they expect competent direction. Borderlands could have been R rated guardians of the Galaxy with the right script/casting/direction, but instead we get a near universally hated toilet flush of 120+ million dollars.
My question is what do you expect from movies?
Ill finish watching this classic movie and then go and play the game and be like they got the game all wrong it's trash play.

Hey, my cat gets entertained by a laser or a feather on a string, we all have our thing. But I don't excuse tubi/cw level bullshit in movies with a 150 million dollar budget. I only have so many hours left in my life and I'm not entertained by poorly made trash, I don't appreciate wasting precious time on crap. Also It being a videogame movie is no excuse, we've seen things like the last of us, sonic, Mario, cyberpunk edgerunners, hell even the original resident evils look like seven samurai compared to this bullshit.

This is what the fuck they get. They are so apt to make a movie off of already established intellectual property that no one asked for as a movie then take a chance on a movie or idea that is new IP or intellectual property.
They lost $30 million plus on the Crow. They lost $100 million here on Borderlands. And they will do it again with another BS project.

What does it take to get you to the movies? I've realized that since the pandemic people still haven't come back to the movies en Masse. People ignore much of what comes out regardless of who is in It or how much pub the movie gets

and with AMC A List, I'm able to see plenty of movies I wouldn't normally pay for or I'm on the fence about. Some are good, some aren't, but I easily see 50+ movies a year.
Streaming with Covid gave people plenty of other options, but often it's not quality. Other people have the patience to wait a month or two for it to hit streaming
We get the remakes and sequels, because a Beetlejuice can make $100 mil, and Inside Out 2 a billion.... So what are you going to invest in and put out? A lot of people want the familiar rather than some art house movie where they have to pay attention and can't look at their phone every 5 minutes.
