Breaking: PRINCE DEAD AT 57

This is quite possible, but the likelyhood of it is not that great especially when you take into consideration that Prince once gave M.J. advice to slow down and scale down his shows if he was feeling ache and pain... And has stated several times that he doesn't like any types of medication..
Mentioning that he is a vegan, only points out that he is highly disciplined not some guy who gives into his urges with out thinking about the consequences...
I've never heard that he told that to MJ at all.

And I have heard that prince was on pain killers years ago.

And ANYONE who's in pain for real- all that discipline shit goes out the window especially when you have a job to do and the amount of work he put himself through totally flies in the face of the "slow down and scale back" thing you're saying. I've been to his shows and after shows. I've been to a show at paisley park he threw and he didn't even come out til 3 and kept going til 7. The guy did 500 years of work in that short time. His work ethic was unmatched. We also heard he had had hip surgery so pain killers go with that. And he kept doing shows for years after that.

This may surprise a lot of folks but, most black folks born in the 50s (same age as Prince) were not IN to Prince's music. He had a couple of funk bangers but, he didn't really get a whole LOT of play because of his image.

It was all about Rick James from 1978-1983. I can't name a single friend of my parents, nor their siblings (my aunts and uncles) that had Prince on steady rotation. People came around for Kiss in 1986, it was more mainstream and tolearble. Prince had image issues out of this world with his black peer group, it hurt him a lil' bit but he ain't give a fuck. Black folks was loyal as fuck to Michael Jackson up until the "Bad" 1987 era...

Prince been looking bad for years...he knew he was on his last legs. Dude coulda had terminal cancer or some shit for all we know. But TPTB will slander him with the monster to tarnish his legacy.

Peace BROTHER,

I was really not myself earlier upon hearing the sad news.

But upon review of you comments I would have to strongly disagree. Unless your were raised in some very religious setting which forbid secular music almost everyone had a PRINCE song they loved. Or they loved him and his entire body of work.

We are all entitled to our opinions.

The GOAT!!! A true genius! A tour de force! A musical savant! My favorite artist ever. Learning to play Purple Rain on keys was spiritual for me. I was blessed to catch his concert tour in Raleigh a few years back. The greatest show on earth. Nothing Compares To You!! Rest in the Rhythm!!!

They interviewed some chick on HLN who was supposedly close to him. She said he was actually very close to MJ and went into deep depression when he died.

Um, LaToya Jackson perhaps? She was on CNN via phone saying that Prince hung out with the Jacksons when he first got out to LA and in the early days. She said they all bonded over being Jehovah's Witnesses and he was a good roller skater. I'm surprised Prince didn't snatch her up, Toya was fine back in her prime.

No way Prince was a drug addict in a traditional/"junkie" sense. Taking pain meds and who knows what else to be able to "maintain".......perhaps.

we'd like to hope he wasn't in need of help but I've lived long enough to know better than to put shit past anybody.
sounds like sudden death from prescription drugs could be the likely outcome...or allergic reaction.

He didn't look good. He knew he was sickly or dying or COULD die, hence the decision to release the ATL concert as a live CD and publish his memoirs. I'm all for a good conspiracy theory but...sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction and cancer or infectious diseases ain't no respecters of persons.

I'm still kinda pissy 30 years later he kicked Vanity fine ass off the Purple Rain cast...imagine if she was in it. It wouldn't have been bigger but damn sure woulda been a better movie.

Apples was fine to be a regular ole Mexican bitch but she ain't have shit on Vanity...Vanity just had that extra something.

21 different write ups about Prince on HuffPost front page!

wooooow!

Peace Cotton,

No disrespect to you I don't know your age BROTHER, but PRINCE was mega-star in the 80's and into the early 90's. Prince was on a Rolling Stones tour. The 1999 album made PRINCE a international Star, but the "PURPLE RAIN" movie and soundtrack put him into another galaxy. Thats all you heard from the time the album dropped until about 1 year in the future at the clubs, booming in cars, at cookouts, stopping through somebody's crib. That shit was everywhere.

He wrote alot songs that became pop hits for other people (Olivia Newton-John, Sheena Easton) and not to mention all those who covered his material. Look at all the groups he launched The Time, Vanity Six, The Family, Applonia 6, and didn't he have a group call Mazarati (the group name had a funny spelling) its a couple others I'm forgetting. The one thing bigger than his star power was his talent and genius.

I know on his early albums maybe up to Purple Rain, he would:
1. write
2. record
3. produce
4. play all the instruments on the albums

The dude was unbelievable.

Prince, JB, George Clinton and Miles are unbelievable talents.

Peace 3,

BROTHER, this is a very generous of you and thanks. I really appreciate you sacrificing your time to get this done.

How far back are going with it? Is this up to hi current releases?

The B-side of some of the releases were some super cold jams.

yeah, that story about that bike got me fucked up.

Peace Dawill,

When I heard that story I was amazed. There are still many, many kind and giving people. They just get overshadowed by this sea of BS most seem to be on.

I always got the vibe PRINCE was a good dude.
