Losing weight is not out of the realm for a actor.
Black people do it and they sick....Cac's do it and they are committed to their artistry.
Looking at that Joker thread I didn't see or hear one person saying Joaquin Phoenix was "sick".

Usually when you go for a role that requires method acting i.e. extreme weight loss, you release a statement of some sort. Christian Bale did it a few years ago and also 50 cent. There are others also.
