I'm gonna tell u right now this Ag.Leaf is a winner. This will not stay in the stores
I rolled up to my cigar spot to catch the Steelers - Vikings with the Aganorsa Leaf Aniversario Maduro (Toro) on deck. You can't just chill without showing support so I picked up the Montecristo by AJ Fernandez
https://halfwheel.com/montecristo-crafted-aj-fernandez-robusto/156599/

The strong aroma from the Ag Leaf was detected before unraveling the bag it came in. Love that *Skunk*...Pungent smell. Why pull the price tag sticker off and unfold the cellophane when you can just V cut it and remove it? Smelled nuthing but *Earth* and *Leather* on the cold draw. I toasted the stogie using their single flame lighter ...and away we go !!! Kickoff !!! I got clouds of smoke from beginning to end. Earth,Leather...and a build up of black peppers .The
peppery aroma didn't last long...and it wasn't overwhelming. It went away after 15 minutes, and never came back.Retrohalers who like the aroma would probably get more enjoyment .The construction was good..no veins or cracks .Patrons was glancing over at what I was puffing probably noticing the Silver and white label..the shit takes up most of the cigar. The ash stayed on for an inch before I had to relight it. The heating system was trash ...had to relight it three times before I finished it. I don't blame the cigar. I should have used my quad flame torch...couldn't find it that night. It felt like a VERY SMOOTH medium to full bodied cigar..and thought I was good til I got the phuck up....Shit thats when I remembered it was a Toro...and the smoke time was well over an hour .The Aganorsa Leaf Aniversario Maduro was (6) by (54). Nuthing but Nicaraguan tobacco from wrapper to filler. I bought my sticks from here is the link https://store.cigarfederation.com/ in case they re-up or you find something else Interesting.Neptune cigars have them right now https://www.neptunecigar.com/cigar/aganorsa-leaf-aniversario-maduro Cigars ...especially my taste are not cheap. These are over $13 each. If you really want a good ..and I mean a really good cigar and recommend this one.You will not regret it. I went ahead and bought more .This is one full bodied cigar that I really enjoyed. These are a must have for your humidor .

Just got my 2 in the mail.

Gonna hit a cigar bar later this week to properly enjoy them.

I used the neptune link brother @CORNBREAD posted.

It’s just one cigar. Drew Estates makes the Java, Fatbottom Betty and Deadwood Leather Rose. The latter two are the latest and most popular and close in taste. All these cigars including the Acids and Romeo y Julieta Java all have a taste that is great for casual stogie puffers.

If you start there you can’t go wrong.
I appreciate that ...everybody here smokes and post cigars. So don't just look at mine. I usually go with premiums.brands, reputable cigar companies that is known to consistently release good smoke year after year. There are small cigar manufacturers that put out good shit as well .Don't get into the mentality that because it's expensive it must be good that's not always the case.If you really want to impress your friend I also suggest you look into Cuban cigars as well ( All Cubans are not expensive) You can find them.online.

I agree with brother @CORNBREAD the deadwood line from drew estate is a good introduction to a cigar (especially for someone who likes swisher. )

Another Drew Estate brand I would recommend like @Mello Mello said: the Acid blondie/Kuba Kuba sticks.

Anytime I introduce cigar smoking to people it's always an acid blonde
Macanudo makes some great mild cigars for beginners try the Cafe, Acid, Tatiana, Oliva Connecticut Reserve, Olive Serie G, Romeo Y Julieta Capulet, Romeo Y Julieta Reserva Real Corona, Romeo y Julieta 1875, Perdomo Champagne, La Aroma de Cuba, Rocky Patel Vintage 1992, Alec Bradley Medalist Gordo, Padron Delicias Natural.

Again thank you to all of yall who gave me links and suggestions to what I could get.

Time came close and I didn't have a chance to let something online or from a shop, plus I didn't want to travel to Mexico only to be stopped by TSA.

So what happened is that I got him a pack of 5 Cuban cigars from this spot in Isla Mujeres which obviously cost more than I wanted to spend but it was bros bachelors night so I said fck it and got it. Had to pretty much haggle the seller down from $200 to $50 and then he wanted to charge $50 for the cutter. Told him gtfo outta here with that shit and he end up cutting the ends (which is customary at any place I've been to) for free.

Forgot the brand but they came in a nice glass case for keeping so I'll get the name next time I visit him.

Oh damn man I wish you could gave jumped online before buying those "Cubans" & I could have ran a check for you to make sure you they were legit. I know folks who've gotten taken in DR & Cuba from shops selling fake cuban cigars.

You wouldn't have any issues traveling with cigars, everywhere I travel I have my hard case in my carryon, TSA & customs are usually in awe of my stuff & ask where I buy..lol

Now cutters can cost depending on the brand, I have a prometheus opus x cutter that my lady cost & that bad boy was over a bill.

Yeah man I was telling @CORNBREAD that we were in a large enough group that we were safe from anything like being taken but I'll definitely do more research next time I'm making transactions like that.

Found out my bro was traveling with a couple cigars of his own as well.

Group size wasn't what I was talking about. More so shops selling fakes, I've seen folks get sold fakes in Cuba..lol A lot of spots near tourist areas are selling fakes because most folks don't know what to look for & they are so caught up in wanting Cubans.

Ok finally have a chance to enjoy this opulence 3. Been trying to smoke this since Thanksgiving.

Today my wife had a doctor's appointment near one of my favorite cigar bars.

Initial reaction was love at first puff.

AGANORSA LEAF ANIVERSARIO MADURO TORO
In June 2021, AGANORSA Leaf renamed its flagship, limited edition Casa Fernández Aniversario line to AGANORSA Leaf Aniversario as part of an overall shift in marketing strategy that began back in 2018 with a change of the company from Casa Fernández to AGANORSA Leaf.
“The Aniversario Maduro blend was a massive hit last year and there was great demand for this cigar to return to the market,” said Terence Reilly, vp of sales and marketing for AGANORSA Leaf, in a press release. “We also updated the packaging to make it clear this is an AGANORSA blend when consumers see it in the humidor.”
Along with packaging changes, AGANORSA Leaf announced there would be two new vitolas added to the line: a 5 3/8 x 48 Short Churchill and a 6 x 54 Toro. However, although both new sizes shipped to retailers at the same time in November 2021, the Short Churchill was offered to AGANORSA Leaf Select accounts while the AGANORSA Leaf Aniversario Maduro Toro was offered exclusively to retailers who placed orders at the 2021 PCA Convention & Trade Show in July.
As with the rest of the AGANORSA Leaf Aniversario Maduro line, the Toro incorporates a blend that includes a Nicaraguan shade-grown maduro wrapper covering Nicaraguan tobacco used in both the binder and filler. It has an MSRP of $13.75 per cigar and is limited to 1,500 boxes of 10 cigars, all of which were rolled at AGANORSA’s Leaf small factory in its Miami headquarters.

While the combination of a main band, secondary band and vellum wrap covers four-fifths of the total real estate of the AGANORSA Leaf Aniversario Maduro Toro’s wrapper, once I remove the latter I can plainly see a very nice espresso-brown wrapper that has a sandpaper roughness to the touch. In addition, there are plenty of thin veins running up and down the cigar’s length as well as some noticeable oil, and the slight box-press and covered foot are both welcomed touches. Aroma from the wrapper is a combination of strong earth, generic wood, cinnamon, manure, hay and leather, while the foot includes notes of cedar, cinnamon, orange peel, barnyard and black licorice sweetness. Finally, after a v-cut the cold draw features flavors of creamy oak, cinnamon, earth, leather, baker’s spices, black pepper and vanilla bean sweetness.
The AGANORSA Leaf Aniversario starts off immediately with quite a bit of spice on my lips and tongue, interspersed with a distinct leather tack note that slowly transitions to the main flavor combination of earth and cashews. Additional notes of oak, hay, cinnamon, leather, cocoa nibs and roasted coffee beans flit in and out, while the retrohale features significant black pepper as well as some light vanilla bean sweetness that seems to be pulled directly from the cold draw. In terms of construction, the draw is excellent and there is an enormous amount of thick, gray smoke. While two samples had no issues with the burn, the third needed a single correction with my lighter. Flavor and body are both at medium, while the strength hits a point just under medium by the time the first third comes to an end.
Coming into the second third of the cigar, the profile shifts a bit: although a gritty earth note easily remains one of the main flavors, a distinct charred meat flavor replaces the cashews note from the first third, while a green pepper flavor has shown up on the finish. Secondary flavors of cocoa nibs, leather, generic nuts, oak and hay show up at various points, and with the amount of black pepper on the retrohale receding a bit, more of the vanilla bean sweetness emerges. Construction-wise, both the draw and smoke production continue along their excellent path, and the burn on all three samples was trouble-free, albeit far from razor sharp. Flavor has bumped up to medium-full, body is slightly above medium and the strength has increased enough to hit a point above medium by the end of the second third, and it is still rising.
The final third of the Aniversario Maduro Toro follows the trend of the second third, with the same main flavors of gritty earth and charred meat followed by notes of hay, dark chocolate, brewed espresso, leather, oak and a slight bit of cinnamon. In addition, while the amount of black pepper on the retrohale has decreased even more compared to the second third, the vanilla bean sweetness has increased slightly. As for the finish, the green pepper note is still present. The draw, burn and smoke production are all humming along in almost perfect harmony, with virtually no issues between the three of them. The cigar ends with its flavor just under the full mark, body finishes at medium-full, and the strength hits the full mark just as I put the nub down with just under an inch remaining.
Final Notes
  • The combination of the main band, secondary band and vellum sleeve—all printed with sliver on white—looks extremely high-end, but I found it to also be quite distracting as all three cover up about 80 percent of the entire cigar.
  • Be aware that the ash is extremely flaky on this cigar, with little bits falling on a near-constant basis with little to no provocation.
  • While there is some very obvious strength in this blend—especially in the final third—it is very well balanced with the rest of the profile.
  • Considering the above, this would be a nice cigar to do a redux review on, not only to see how some age would change the profile, but also to see how it affects the final third where the majority of the strength resides at the moment.
  • The cigars for this review were purchased by halfwheel.
  • Final smoking time averaged one hour and 56 minutes for all three samples.
  • If you are looking to purchase any of the AGANORSA Leaf Aniversario Maduro Toro cigars, site sponsors Atlantic Cigar Co., Corona Cigar Co. and JR Cigar have them in stock.
90OVERALL SCORE (90)
While the AGANORSA Leaf Aniversario Maduro Toro starts out with an aggressive spice, pepper and earth combination, it was never overwhelming enough to push out the other main flavors in the profile, a list that include cashews, charred meat and oak. In addition, there were some very interesting additional parts of the profile, including some distinct vanilla bean sweetness—which gets more distinct as the cigar burns down—and a green pepper note on the finish in the final two thirds. In the end, the AGANORSA Leaf Aniversario Maduro Toro is an impressive addition to the company’s portfolio: strong yet smooth, well-balanced and quite well constructed.
