it’s a slow process prepare for a wait. What part of the process are you up to?I’m going for my carry license right now In nyc. Anybody familiar with the process of getting license
Assigned an investigator. They asked for all my documents and certificate for 18hr to send to supervisor.it’s a slow process prepare for a wait. What part of the process are you up to?
Ok once you go through filing the application, and submitted all the documents they requested plus the noterized reference letters.they have to call you down to 1 police plaza to get finger printed for a fee(100) Then you have to take a 16 hour(2 day) firearm training course. Usually the cost is between 400-500 dollars. Once you get the certificate from the course you can scan it and email it to your investigator. Now the wait game, they will send you a form in the mail that you will take to the gun shop and purchase your gun. YOU WILL NOT leave with the gun. The sales person will run a background check on you. take the form and write down the corresponding info from the gun on the form and give the form back to you. You then will have to take out your cellphone and take several pics of the firearm including the serial number. Take a pic of the receipt, the safe or lock box where you will store the gun, the receipt for that. Scan the form the shop owner filled out and email all of it to the Nypd investigator on the form. You now must wait for your license and purchase order to come in the mail. Once you get those two things you can pick up the firearm. The whole process took me about a year at times it moved fast and at times it slowed to a crawl.Hold up because I must not be reading this correctly. Are you saying that NYC makes you purchase the gun before approving the CCL? Is it like that for Long Island too? I live in a state where you cannot purchase a gun until you have your CCL.

Note: with NYC conceal carry the most you can have is 11 rounds in the gun. So a 10 round mag and 1 in the chamber. Also if you want to purchase another firearm, you could only purchase 1 gun every 3 months, and you still have to go through getting a purchase order from nypd. Hope this helped.
Yep. That's what NY makes ppl go through. They make it so difficult and expensive that it either prices people out or discourages them from going through the process. Plus I forgot to add the initial application fee which Is 340.00 bringing the total license fee around 1000.00 and that doesn't include the gun, storage, ammo, holster, etc.....Yep. My boy in Mt Vernon went through the same thing. It's absolutely ridiculous. I dread coming up to NY to visit friends and family cuz I know I can't bring my piece with me and the savagery up top has increasedPlus I forgot to add the initial application fee which Is 340.00 brining the total license fee around 1000.00 and that doesn't include the gun, storage, ammo, holster, etc.....
The conceal carry laws In NY are always changing. The class instructors gave paper work to file with certain states to be allowed to carry within that state. I didn't file yet and It's not all states just a few. I know one Is Florida. The other weird thing Is If you get your CCL In long island from the town you live In you're good for all of Long Island, but you still can not carry In the NYC 5 boroughs with out registering and going through NYPD. However If you go through NYPD from beginning you're good all over NYC, Long Island, Albany, Utica, Binghamton, Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo. My boy in Mt Vernon went through the same thing. Yeah there are multiple states that will honor a NY CCL but NY does not honor any CCLs from other states. You can always use the USCCA Reciprocity app to confirm on the fly so you know what states will honor what licenses. With me having a NC CCL, I'm SOL once I pass the Virginia border when heading up north unless I'm going to Pennsylvania. In that case I could cut through West Virginia but Maryland is a no go.The conceal carry laws In NY are always changing. Don’t they give you about 1 hour to travel through states?Yeah there are multiple states that will honor a NY CCL but NY does not honor any CCLs from other states. On paper yes but would you chance trusting police in any of those states to abide by that if they pulled you over?Don’t they give you about 1 hour to travel through states?
If driving through those states keep the gun in a gun safe in your trunk in case you get pulled over if you want to avoid any issues. Unless the cop is a racist POS they tend to be understanding when it comes to CC permits.Don’t they give you about 1 hour to travel through states?
It’s also good keep the ammo/mags in a separate place from the gun. Like the gun in the trunk in a case and ammo/mags in the glove box.If driving through those states keep the gun in a gun safe in your trunk in case you get pulled over if you want to avoid any issues.
