In Louisiana, second degree murder is automatic life no parole, first degree is generally death but could be life with no parole and manslaughter can get you atleast 40.
So when I heard that Guyger got charged with murder, my assumption was that she was going to be jail for an extremely long time, given Texas' reputation on crime. Allowing the jury to select the duration of the sentence just seems soft to me. I really thought this bitch was going to do some real time.
Now this bitch will probably be back home before the end of the 2020s.
