It states that the team had just shut him down for the year for an ankle injury. I wonder if he was shot, they knew it, but didn't know he had killed the young woman. Sure sounds like it to me.

Darius was raised by his Mom and Dad. Very good family, he actually played with my Son when they were Younger in AAU ball.
