Mike Tyson, Tupac and Kobe all had rape cases.
If I was their friend I'd really have to know the ins and outs of the cases before I could write a letter for them.
I read about Danny's case when it was first filed and don't remember the ins and outs.
If I felt that the person was guilty, I couldn't and wouldn't write a letter for them no matter who it was.

Put it like this.
A 24 year old man goes to a bar and meets a sexy young lady. They both get asshole wasted and have a one-night stand.
10 years later he's moved on with his life. Has a career, a wife, two kids, volunteers at the food bank etc. However, this lady comes forward and reveals that she got into the bar with a fake ID and was only 17 at the time they hooked up. Now this guy is facing charges of statutory rape.
If that were my friend I would definitely write a letter to the judge explaining all the good things he's done and the way his life has changed in the last decade. I would plead for leniency so that his life and family weren't destroyed by a mistake.
Danny Masterson's case is WAAAAY different though. He forcibly and knowingly raped three women and used his connections in the Church of Scientology to cover it up.
I don't care if he was a great guy once he put his pants back on. The man is a monster and he deserves every second of that 33 years sentence.

Its crazy because the fact that Kobe cheated on his wife and put himself in that position. Pac letting his boys in the room. Even if they were my best friends? I don't think I could.
And to be completely transparent I have had to vouch for someone in a similar situation once. Thankfully he was innocent. And I truly believed him. When others didn't. Saved his career and he moved on to a big position.
