They don't mind sounding stupid, hypocritical, contradictory, irrational etc... They did it, so the powers that allow them to get away with doing it are going to fall in line and back them up. He has resources and some PR clout on his side, but that's the only reason their even might be some consequences for them. Even that aint guaranteed.

Fuck a Police Union, at least two of those cops got to turn in their badges, if for no more than to set an example. Not to mention, you got to be a real dumb son-of-a-bitch to draw traffic duty at the stadium on opening day the first NFL Sunday and not realize that the big black guys in the expensive cars headed toward the stadium are likely players.
