Yep, he caught a slant and blocked well on the plays I remember. Cormani got a good hit on special teams too. Juwan Mitchell played well as usual. IMO Mitchell is the heartbeat of the Defense. He was all over the place. I'm real curious how Gant will do.

Colorado had some bright spots when it comes to individual play. They have alot of players coming back next year too. The #1 thing they need is to shore up the lines though.

Yup the can take a few positives from this lopsided ass whooping

Far as Mitchell, man the moment he signed, one of the channels I watched was thrilled.

Bro, tell what you think about this.

We under the line is kinda inexperienced as a whole/togetherness. What’s your thoughts on maybe slowing up the pace.
In stead up running 3 plays in 40 secs, we could run 1 and gradually get to being Folsom fast in the 2nd quarters of games.

The problem is that Colorado can’t run pace and has not been able to do so in awhile.

The offense was slowed down because of the Buffs defense. Increasing the pace puts the defense back on the field when they already have been on the field a long time. The last two games the offense has not been able to take advantage of pace.

But you can’t grind the clock because the defense can’t stop anyone. You would make it easier on the other team by grinding the clock. You just can’t play to fast because you risk putting a poor defensive back on the field and you can’t grind the clock because your offensive possessions are already limited because of the defense

I'm going to admit that the Oregon game was a reality set. I knew Colorado had a suspect line, running game, and defense, but thought they would over come their deficiencies and improve as they added personnel. This game really showed that they can't get anything going offensively if their line is not effective and their defense is not good enough to reliably hold good teams to a low scoring game.

On the bright side, Travis Jay and Jahquez Robinson looked solid in the secondary and Alton Mcaskill looked solid blocking and running the ball. I expect Colorado to improve at a rapid rate as players get healthy and they identify their weaknesses.
People kept saying I was trolling but now they see I was keeping it 100. The problems we saw at Oregon were present in the TCU, Nebraska and Colorado St games.

Colorado was last in just about every meaningful defensive category and on offense was dead last in rushing yards per game and number one in sacks given up.

So the offense could not run the ball and couldn’t protect the QB and had the worst defense statistically in College football, but some people think they were going to make it a close game with a legit football team?

Colorado plays 7 teams in the top 25 this season with 5 of them in the top 15. That’s brutal and people just need to be realistic

As T.O said if you don’t want me to celebrate then keep me out the end zone. Floyd also said keep your guards up at all time. Last one New York been soft ever since Snoop came through and kick the building Jay-Z

Man two teams entered the building trying to kick each other ass. All of sudden on 4th and goal they need to let up hell no!

3-0 against at least two teams EVERYONE predicted they'd lose to by wide margins...lets not move the goal posts homie....:rolleyes2:
TCU was 0-0, Nebraska was 0-1, Colorado State was 0-1, they beat teams that didn't win a single game at that point where did i lie?

predictions are just that predictions

when this thread started it was a debate alot of us had saying we didn't see where the wins would come from most predicted 6-8 wins then saw them beat TCU and moved the wins up to 8-10 because of the hype, to be real the way Washington, Washington St n Oregon St playing I don't think they getting to 8 wins but we'll see

I'm just hoping their confidence not broken after back to back blow outs cause USC gonna blow their asses out too. I need them to get back to their style of ball after these 2 games but the defensive TRASH, O line Trash so who knows feel like the Oregon set the blueprint so I'm going back to my original prediction of 6 games until further notice btw Shedeur to blame too cause he be given lanes where he could run the ball 20+ yards but stays in the backfield only to be sacked wtf he's a black qb he needs to use those legs and run the damn ball

He is a big and physical linemen. Colorado really needs tackles and he can come in and start day one. When I look at his film, he has great feet. For a man his size he can really move his feet. He has a mean streak also because he really gets after it down field. Ohio State seems to be in the lead with him but he was on Campus last week in Colorado. The Buffs are making putting out all the stops an aggressively recruiting him. he is defiantly a priority.

Takeaways From Buffs At Oregon

September 24, 2023
Anthony Hankerson

Derek Marckel
BOULDER — Back to work.

With a 42-6 loss to Oregon in the rearview mirror and a matchup with another top-10 team on the immediate horizon, Colorado's Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders didn't give his Buffaloes time to wallow in their misery after Saturday's beatdown.

The message in the locker room was succinct.

"Get your butt up and let's go," Sanders told his players. "We ain't got no time for a pity party. There's nobody walking around the locker room with napkins and tissues. Get your butt up, get on that plane and let's go. We got work to do."

Indeed. Along with knocking the Buffaloes out of the top 25 polls, Saturday's loss in Oregon identified a number of areas that need work — especially with No. 8 Southern California headed to Boulder on Saturday for a 10 a.m. national television matchup (Fox).

Our weekly takeaways:

1. Buffs must reduce the pressure on QB Shedeur Sanders. Colorado's quarterback has been sacked 22 times this year — 5.5 per game. That's an unsustainable number, at least if the Buffs want to keep Sanders healthy for the season.

Not all the blame can be placed on the offensive line. Sanders stepped up and said after the game that he is holding the ball too long on occasion.

But that wasn't the case for all seven sacks recorded by the Ducks. While Sanders refused to place any of the blame on the big fellas in charge of protecting him, there's no doubt CU's offensive line had some issues with Oregon's pass rush.

The Ducks provided a blueprint for how to disrupt CU's offense. It will be up to the Buffs to figure out a way to make sure that blueprint isn't executed on a weekly basis.

2. The run game has to improve. Prior to Saturday, the Buffs' offense had generated enough production in the air to make up for a lack of production on the ground.

But that lack of a running game finally cost Colorado against Oregon. Because the Buffs couldn't move the ball on the ground on first and second down, they found themselves in far too many third-and-long situations.

On 14 third-down plays, Colorado faced an average of third-and-10. Only three of those third down tries were short yardage — less than third and 5 — with six in double digits.

Colorado finished with just 40 yards rushing against Oregon. But even when you take away the sack yardage (73), CU had just 113 yards on the ground — and that number was bolstered by a couple of long Sanders runs late in the game when the outcome was already decided.

The Buffs need to get to a point where they can hammer out some consistent drives with the run game playing a significant role.

Otherwise, the pressure on Sanders is only going to grow.

3. It's no fun being Charles Kelly right now. Colorado's defensive coordinator just finished facing the nation's No. 2 offense. Now, he'll spend the week preparing for the nation's No. 3 offense that boasts the reigning Heisman Trophy winner.

Kelly has done a solid job with the Buffs defense this year. Colorado wasn't the first team to be dominated by the Ducks and won't be the last.

But Kelly now has to try to find a way to at least slow down USC's offense.

One mostly unnoticed item from Saturday's game in Oregon was that Colorado won the turnover battle again. The defense collected an interception of Bo Nix while the offense didn't give it up once.

In a game such as Saturday's, that wasn't enough to make a difference. But Kelly's group is also establishing a reputation for coming up with big plays that give the Colorado offense some extra possessions. That's a trend that will continue to serve CU well in conference play.

4. The Buffs miss Travis Hunter. As Coach Prime pointed out, when you don't have arguably your best player on both sides of the ball, that makes a difference.

Would Hunter have been enough to change Saturday's outcome? Of course not. But he might have stopped one or two of those early Oregon drives, and he might have extended one or two CU drives and at least made the game a little more competitive.

But Hunter won't be available against the Trojans, and the Buffs will have to figure out how to compensate as best they can.

5. New players in the lineup will help. With Hunter out, Alabama transfer Jahquez Robinson stepped into the starting role at cornerback and came up with an interception. It was his first action of the year for Colorado and he finished with the highest PFF grade of any CU defender (77.1).

Another welcome addition was running back Alton McCaskill, who carried five times for 17 yards in his CU debut. McCaskill gives the Buffs another look from the backfield and will likely play a bigger role as the season progresses.

6. Self-inflicted wounds have to be reduced. The Buffs are ninth in the nation in penalty yards per game, averaging 77.0 per contest. Saturday, they committed 12 for 106 — and a number of those either stalled offensive drives that had potential or kept Oregon drives alive.

The Buffs' margin for error is still thin and handing freebies to the opponents is something Colorado can't afford to do.

7. Perspective is necessary. Six months ago, had anyone given Colorado fans the chance at a 3-1 record against this schedule, they would have jumped at the opportunity.

But after a 3-0 start, expectations were ramped up considerably — and probably unrealistically.

Saturday's loss was one game. The Buffs are still a competitive team and have a chance to be a factor in the Pac-12. They are well-positioned to at least earn a bowl bid and, as Coach Prime noted, "You better get us right now, because I like what I see. I love it. I know I have on shades, but I can see the future and it looks really good."

Given the fact that CU finished just 1-11 last season, that's a dose of optimism Colorado fans should keep in mind.

TCU is 3-1 Nebraska is 2-2 CSU 1-2 :rolleyes2:

Nobody said 6-8 wins they were predicted to win 3 games

Outside of Dr Truth and 1 or 2 others nobody here really gives a shit or talks about Pac12 teams for the past 20 years. We just root for Deion and Colorado now for obvious reasons…

I get what your saying but your previous post gives the impression that CU had some false inflation of ego/pride that wasnt warranted.

he didn't lie tho

3-0 against teams that at the time didn't win any games

Let's be real

The buffs were literally just recreated over the summer after going 1-11. NO ONE expected them to win that first game much less go 3-0. And those were hard fought wins...none of those teams laid down to them. They just played a much better organized experienced team who had the benefit of watching them for the last 3 weeks.

Getting to 4 or 5 wins will be tough unless they figure out something on defense. The Buffs have

  • USC
  • UCLA
  • UTAH
These will pretty much be losses because of the talent gap between the two teams.
  • Oregon St
  • Washington ST
Colorado should be able to hang with these team but it will be tough games

Arizona St
Stanford
Arizona
The talent level may be lower than what Colorado has so they have a really good chance of winning these.

USC gonna blow them out next wk too tho so its gonna CRUSH them
Every team has an Achilles Heal or a Chink in their Armor .
Colorado has to search for it in film study and exploited it as much as possible.
They have to throw some wrinkles into their offense and use their bigger running backs out of the Wishbone for added protection of Shedeur.

In stead up running 3 plays in 40 secs, we could run 1 and gradually get to being Folsom fast in the 2nd quarters of games.

Colorado doesn't have a reliable running game to grind the clock and reliably get 1st downs to keep their Defense off the field. IMO Colorado is more built for a shootout in that both their Offense and Defense is built for big plays rather than consistency. As bad as the Defense is in stopping the run, they get turnovers in the passing game. I think they have the right gameplan offensively which is a "hurry up" offense to exploit matchup advantages(multiple speedy WRs and a big play RB).
This loss was bad, but im still optimistic. This Oregon game doesn't define the rest of their season. It was a perfect storm for them to get whooped like that. Not only is Oregon one of the top teams in the country, but they also played at home. Colorado looked like they had trouble with crowd noise during the game. Couple this with their suspect line, lack of running threat, and Colorado was in big trouble.

Going forward, Colorado has a tremendous home field advantage, Travis Hunter is returning in a few weeks, and they will have some new starters(I predict McCaskill, Travis Jay, and Antonio.) Jimmy Horn Jr, Travis Hunter, Weaver, Dawson and Antonio are going to put up big numbers against alot of the opponents left on Colorado's schedule. Travis Hunter, Travis Jay, Omarion Cooper, and Shilo Sanders are going to be very hard to pass against by many of their opponents.
I predict they lose to USC but it being closer than what most people will expect. They will then beat Arizona State, Stanford, and UCLA and be 6-2 with alot of momentum.

Man ain’t no way the will be 6-2 with that defense and poor offensive line. They damn sure won’t keep it close against USC. Also they don’t have a chance of beating UCLA.

I appreciate the convo but fam I don’t see it

FUCK CU and their front running fans base

We've gone from "Do you believe?" to "You better get me now" in less than one month

Just got stomped out and Sanders jr is laughing about jewelry

USC will physically wear them out (L)
+ ASU will make it a game at home the following week, but lose. (W)
+ Stanford can press the pocket and run the ball. This is one I think CU gives up (L)
+ UCLA and Oregon State will pound them (L, L)
+ Arizona is a W for them
+ Back on the Tubesteak express for WSU and Utah (L, L)

That’s 5-7. A big improvement over 1-11.

But it’ll be seen as a major disappointment because of the hype.

O-Line for CU is garbage.
In my opinion there are 2 types of offensive lines.
There's the offensive line that are bulldozers that have the ability to push defensive linemen on their asses or at least push them a yard past the line of scrimmage.
Then you have offensive linemen that are like large trees They have little or no movement , They are not pushing anyone on their ass They are more like a barrier of thick forest jungle bushes that if you whack away at them with your machete you'll eventually clear a path to your destination which is the quarterback.
That 6'10" stiff bodied oaf of a left tackle with no bend in his legs should reassigned to special teams to block Field Goals.
He's just a useless statue that opposing defensive ends and linebackers run around or spin around with ease to sack the quarterback.
