I didn’t key in on Washington’s play, but he committed multiple costly penalties, got hurt, and was part of a unit that was criticized for poor play all season.

ummmm this a very fair assessment of dude play.
Spot on if we’re really honest.

Man think about this, with all of the mishaps the damn point differential probably was like 6-8pts per game…

With the sacks, lack of running, questionable play calling, injuries and so on… them cats have to be satisfied were they are but motivated to be better but excited

Last year dude got hired around this time and put together everything

Recruiting was a the zero line because they didn’t honor the commits CU had already

Bringing over Tyler, Trav and Shedeur helped early with the numbers but they started from zero.

dude told us many times how they will approach recruiting..
The same way they did at Jackson, if I remember the percentage are 50/30/20
grad transfers, portal, highschool…

When that big big money ain’t there, guess they have to do it the way they thinks will work quickly.
It will be hard to win that way because of how the roster is currently constructed. It will be extremely difficult .Here is the problem Coach Prime is facing.

Offensive Line

Out of the 14 offensive linemen on the roster, not a single one was a blue chip player. It is no surprised they struggled . The current problem is they have not secured any blue chip offensive lineman in this class. They offered 34 offensive linemen and struck out on all of them.

Defense back field

They had two five stars and blue chip safety but the DB room only had 5 total players. The depth simply was not there at DB this season.

Defensive line

They didn’t have a single blue chip DE or DT on the roster

Wide receivers

This was by far the most talented group with Hunter, horn and weaver but they had 7 true freshman which is a crazy number.

They are have to turn over this roster. There needs to be a lot of attrition. It will be interesting how they go about this because for many, they can’t transfer without sitting out a year, unless the Buffs don’t renew their football scholarship

I don’t hold the same positive perspective of this season. They barely beat a 3-4 Colorado State in OT who was 0-2. They got smashed by Oregon, Lost to an overrated 5-4 USC, barely beat a 2-6 Arizona State, lost to a 2-6 Stanford, lost to 4-4 UCLA, and smashed by a 2-6 Washington State.
Their point differential averages much more than 8 points too. I think they caught teams off guard early in the season with their hurry up offense and because teams didn’t have much film on their core players. Once teams were able to prepare, they beat Colorado. Including weak teams.

Yea ummmm that’s true weaker teams should’ve never got them…

It more of the cup half full vs full empty

Points diff likely is higher than I stated…

Oregon 42-6, 36pts
USC 48-41, 7pts
Stanford 46-43, 3 pts
Arizona 34-31, 3pts
UCLA 28-16, 12 pts
Oregon St 26-19, 7pts
Washington 56-14, 42pts

The biggest mistakes Coach Prime made was mismanaging the roster. He would have been better off keeping the original roster and then purging the players that didn’t fit what they were looking for this offseason.

Colorado’s offensive line from a talent perspective was much more talented than what they brought in from the portal. Unfortunately the portal players from this year did not work out

why are you talking as if this WASN'T a rebuilding period and the buffs were predicted to have a winning record and bowl appearance THIS year??

the same team from last year would have very likely given the same results.. in which case the 2nd guessing would be he SHOULD HAVE jettisoned those players and picked up new ones in the portal.

His decisions/direction would be criticized and 2nd guessed no matter what...you cant win either way.:smh::smh::smh:

There’s was issues with playing calling and other issues in the coaches room…early in the year

Something needs to be done…

That is one of my biggest criticisms. The kids driving 100K up to 500K cars to practice all the time. They should tone some of that shit down.
At some point, you will start alienating your teammates.

Also, some of Deion's hubris is getting to be a bit much, even for me.

He mixes it up w/ humility, but every press conference he brings up how good he was, etc. Even in this last press conference saying that he should be on the Mt. Rushmore of football players. It's a bit much at times.

I'll rock w/ Prime until the end, but a little less flash will go a long way with a lot of people and even his players!
How is that different than any other team in states that allow NIL? I guarantee that those states/schools that mandate pooling of NIL money will soon regret it.

Years ago LSU practices looked like a Mercedes-Benz dealership, during football practice. This was way before NIL money, That ain’t a Rolls but just using that as an example.

I think the issues is(and I hope it don’t go away) the media access that we get.
If we didn’t see none of this and the situation was exactly the same…there would be nothing to express deep concerns about.
This dude choose to do things his way and letting us see it but it’s a problem.

Me as a person wholove the process…I’m loving it.
I’m the type that would watch behind the scenes of pornos.
Many times I wonder how this happened or how that works… watching the process many of those questions get addressed.

Deion allowing the cameras is all good over here…

I don’t agree with everything, just one example is when the players got to wear the cleats… Shilo, McClain, Trav and Shedeur were selected…. I would’ve liked to see Trevor Woods and Hinkerson involved.

Me personally I understand pretty much all the angles, that folks express from.

You not understanding. He can’t turn over the roster like do did last year. The current players already used up their 1 transfer and would have to sit out a year and lose a year of eligibility to move on.

What hurt coach Prime is that he took over in December and missed a real important portal window where most of the elite players available.

If had retain the players from the original team. He could have easily turned over the roster.

The criticism of switching play callers was warranted and the people who complained were 100% correct. Nothing changed with different play callers. The Buffs didn’t run the ball more and gave up just as many sacks.

Most people were confused because the defense was the issue and no changes were made there. Word from a very plugged in and reliable source stated that Sean Lewis wanted to run the ball more and Coach Prime became furious.

Rumors aside, people had good reason to question the move and the motives behind it.

Y’all keep taking simple questions and constructive criticism as people not supporting the Buff. This is what fans do during the offseason, they talk about issues that need to be fixed

Prime had a mandate to make the team his own which means making significant personnel changes in the first year. You saw that speech when he came onboard. Theres no way he could have said all that...retained the same team that went 1-11 the year before and say thats change. The fans and media wouldnt accept that.

As far as I can see....Deions got probably a couple years grace from the school to establish a winning season. As long as people can see progress..

Last year was 1-11...this year's record while still losing does represent progress...next year they can go at worst go .500 and thats still positive progress. The school will accept that. By every year HAS TO BE IMPROVMENT. Thats the real measure. Anything more than that is great.

Who ever told you that was tripping. Hell, we can simply do the math and realize that is not possible.

You realize that there is only 2 1/2 weeks left before signing day

Colorado has a 11 commitments for 2024. To go from a 70th ranked recruiting class to a top 25 means that the next 15 recruits would need all be five and 4 stars. With the position of needs at offensive line and defensive line, that would be damn near impossible because 95% of those blue chip players have already committed

he gained 3 more games than they won last year. He gained a sellout stadium and increased revenue for the school and town. The school gained relevancy again.

There were positives made this season. Hey look I agree they have NO LAURELS to rest on and have to make major changes come this off season... but all this hand wringing by fans and gloating over losses by haters is a bit much...

It's possible he could've done that without turning over as many players. Travis and his boy at Qb are obvious. I think Prime is good enough that he could've gotten similar results, with some of the same players that were replaced.

Colorado’s Deion Sanders Says Warren Sapp Will Join His Coaching Staff

Author:

Colorado coach Deion Sanders says Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive tackle Warren Sapp will join his Buffaloes coaching staff in 2024.

Although the announcement has yet to be made official by the school, Sanders announced the pending addition during his weekly coach’s show this week.

“I’m excited about Coach Sapp,” Sanders said Wednesday. “He’s a dear friend that I love to life, and he’s going to be invaluable to what he brings to the table … as far as the recruits as well, they’re going to love him.”

Sapp has been around the Buffaloes this year in an unofficial capacity, and Sanders discussed the impact that Sapp already has made when he’s been around the players, included one specific moment earlier this year.

“After practice, he was in the hot tub with the whole darn defensive line, and he was just going over stuff and it was unbelievable. … There’s probably 4,000 pounds in the hot tub,” Sanders said.

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers Warren Sapp looks on from the sideline before a game against the New Orleans Saints at Raymond James Stadium on Dec. 5, 2022.

Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Sapp is poised to join the Colorado football coaching staff next season.
Nathan Ray Seebeck / USA Today Sports
It’s unclear what Sapp’s official role will be, but it’s safe to assume he’ll play a large role in coaching the defensive line.

The Buffaloes are 4–7 on the season and wrap up their first year with Sanders at the helm this Saturday at Utah, with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m. ET in Salt Lake City. Although Colorado fell short of bowl eligibility, the improvement from one win in 2022 to four this season shows that Sanders’s rebuild is in gear.

Year two will be pivotal for Sanders and the Buffs, and the addition of Sapp to the coaching staff likely will be a boon to the team’s defensive outlook heading into 2024.

Travis Hunter and Xaiver Weaver dealing with flu; Shedeur Sanders questionable vs. Utah

The Buffs are banged up and sick going into Salt Lake City this weekend

Josh Tolle2 hours ago
Deion Sanders admitted that the Colorado Buffaloes are dealing with a few issues going into the season finale matchup with Utah. We knew Shedeur Sanders was banged up last week against Washington State and his status might come down to a game day decision.

Coach Prime added to that by saying Xaiver Weaver and Travis Hunter were two players dealing with flu symptoms. He spelled out all the details on his weekly coaches show. There's really nothing on the line for the Buffs on Saturday with postseason play off the table. However, a win would boost the program going into an important off-season with early Signing Day around the corner.

Sanders is a touchdown away from setting CU's single-season record. He'll be itching to be out on the field, if he's good enough to go in the finale. As for Hunter and Weaver, they'll have to be down pretty hard not to be out there. They're both cut from a different cloth when it come to competing.

Hunter was recovering from a lacerated liver and was begging Coach Prime to return early. Weaver has one last time to lay it all out there for NFL scouts. You know that means a lot for him. The USF transfer needs 92 yards for his first 1,000-yard season. He's also two touchdowns away from matching his career-best.

Colorado heads to Salt Lake City for a battle with Utah. A 3 p.m. kickoff with coverage on the Pac-12 Network.

The math is not adding up. Colorado needs offensive defensive linemen and LB’s.

They have 11 players committed including the DB they picked up on Thanksgiving day.

That means the next 15 or more recruits would need to be all 5 and 4 star players. 95% of all the DT and Linemen have already committed.

He has to be talking about “Portal Player”

When a team lose 6 games in a row to close the season, there is never any positive to talk about. This doesn’t mean fans are haters

People will talk about coaching mistakes, rosters and areas of need. But no one is going to praise a 4 win season. The Buffs have a bad season.

Now we get into offseason talk on what needs to improve

deions the closest to the issues...I'm gonna assume he knew all the options and he made the decisions he made. Shoulda/coulda/woulda isnt criticism so much as monday morning QBing.

the annoying aspect of this argument is its not just talk about what needs to improve its complaining about decisions already made. NO ONE questioned his use of the portal AS HE WAS DOING IT...

Guess they don’t like conversations where he’s telling them “I’m bringing some players”

Like they want him to folks fight with the 1-11 players he inherited

I was reading a few comments where a bunch of cacs were saying cut the whole damn team....LOL.

Mofos won't care when Deion starts winning.

Cacs are melting down over this

they wont show this one tho ...

" dont b scared of competition ..."

all they wanna highlight n talk about is that 1st presser ....smh

n obviously a lot them dudes not gonna make it or they would`nt have gotten blown out in dam near every game ...

their asses cant play ...

I took the liberty of extracting the important parts. lol

Increased ticket sales: According to Klatt, the program’s season ticket sales have “exploded” since news broke of Sanders’ hire. Ditto for donations from boosters. On his podcast, Klatt called Sanders a “supernova” and “one of one” who will restore Colorado to prominence. If Sanders is successful, Klatt believes the new football coach will “absolutely” generate hundreds of millions of dollars throughout his deal.
Recruiting: College football recruiting is “all about perception,” Klatt noted. No program’s getting more national media exposure right now than Colorado. That’s not lost on high school football stars looking for their ticket to the NFL. Even Top 50 recruits will take a call from the 55-year-old Sanders. And maybe come to the Boulder campus for a visit.
“At worst, they will be curious about what Deion Sanders has to offer,” Klatt said. “His texts and DMs will be responded to far more frequently than almost anybody else in the country, save maybe Nick Saban, Jim Harbaugh, Ryan Day, or Dabo Swinney. He’s immediately on that level.”
Media exposure: Klatt said, “there’s no question” Colorado’s games will get more prominent placement from the Pac-12 Conference’s media partners Fox and ESPN next season. With Sanders on the sideline, anticipation is already building for Colorado’s first two games against TCU, who will play in this season’s College Football Playoff and Nebraska, in the home opener. His presence could help the Pac-12 as it seeks to negotiate a new rights deal.
“Obviously, winning would help from a game selection process,” added Klatt.
More applications: Klatt said that a top coach attracts applicants to a school. Take the University of Alabama. During Saban’s first 10 years at the helm, total Crimson Tide enrollment jumped 51%, according to the Tuscaloosa News.

Deion Sanders details how he'll get Florida recruits to play for Colorado

Monday morning quarterbacking if what fans do…lol That’s the fun part of being fans.

You talk about what you think needs to happen in your opinion. Or what you would like to see.

Its like you don’t understand that real fans are passionate about their team. They vent out of love and not hate.

I predicted a 3 to 4 win season and that this years portal players would be a failure. It was easy to predict because of this.

It does not matter how great a coach you are, no one can win without blue chip players. The one thing that is consistent in college football is that winning programs have good blue chip ratios. None of the portal players where blue chip players.

This is why I consistently have stated to not focus on their record and look at the roster management. A successful season is flipping the roster by adding more blue chip players.

After Saturday I anticipate a bunch of players will move on. That will be a positive because it has to be done to improve their blue chip ratio
