he'll make a nice chunk if he does even half as good as he did at JSU...a whole lot of incentives in that contract.........gotdamn....

By far his best press conference on his departure from Jackson. In other words the schools leadership got issues.
In other words the schools leadership got issues.
Deion said a whole lot in that press conference that folks need to take note of.Shid I know we don’t know every detail but Deion said things in the past that should’ve left many questioning shit

In our community we are obsessed with Messianic like leaders. Malcolm X, Farrakhan, Obama, MLK Jr., Garvey etc. These types of people are amazing orators, clean cut, cool, and strong in their convictions. They’re also influencers and can make things happen. However, when these leaders get arrested, murdered, deported, or simply move on, unfortunately, so does our hopes. We feel let down…
Because of the recruitment and hype Deion brought to JSU, he was the Messianic leader that would transform HBCUs. In hindsight it’s quite crazy that folks would look to Prime to lead that movement.
Deion said very clearly, he’s a very good football coach, and he brought a winning culture to JSU and did what he said he was going to do. And he also said in so many words, you can’t expect a football coach to fix poor campus safety.
I’m hearing Philips & Hagan supposedly are some great additions
Man get the entire fuck outta here. Deion painted himself as the savior by literally saying God sent him. These institutions have never been dependent on a messiah nor have they ever looked for one. These are institutions of opportunity for a historically marginalized people and have survived on the same tenets they were founded on.. Pride, resilience and pursuit of education and upward mobility by and for Blacks. People holding Deion to the expectations created by the promises he made does not mean they looked to Prime as THEE answer.. It just means they trusted his Black ass when he came in door on his pulpit pimp shit talking all that god bullshit.Because of the recruitment and hype Deion brought to JSU, he was raised to the status of a Messianic leader that would transform HBCUs. This dude used to be on here in Charlotte. I always thought he tried to hard at being cool, but whatever..I agree with Bomani..all he needed to say is "im just going leave this here"
Anyway, Deion is right and part of me feel like he was addressing Dr. Umar from the Breakfast Club and Bomani (the God comment) without addressing him directly. I'm sure he's heard what they have been saying. While Deion is busy, i feel like he's aware what is said about him in his own community.
I've said this before, the last time I've seen anything like this was President Obama, because we had so much hope for him but him (and Deion) are just men and they are not here to rescue all black people. While the President held a bigger station, it happened with Coach Prime as well. While he wants to do so much more, he's only a football coach and the time that it will take to make the change he wants will require a longer commitment that he decided he didn't want to make. If he was just out of playing in the NFL and came to JSU, then maybe, but at the end of the day, he's making choices that are right for him and I'm not even mad about that.
I will be watching Colorado very closely next season.![]()
yeah reality show is IT..
if theres one thing that has to be given to Sanders is that hes been CONSISTENT in his behavior and actions all of his life. Sure he did GIVE the IMPRESSION he was in it for the long haul with JSU BUT there is absolutely NOTHING in his background that would suggest he was ever serious about staying at JSU long-term.
I'm kinda joking but I'm kinda NOT when I say that Deion is probably a very high functioning ADHD multitasker!!
Look at his resume since high school:
Highschool -
North Fort Myers High School, was a letterman and All-State honoree in football, basketball and baseball.
College career - 3 years
Sanders enrolled at Florida State University and played three sports for the Florida State Seminoles: football, baseball, and track.
FOOTBALL
Atlanta Falcons (1989-1994) - 5 years
He is the only Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee from his draft's top five picks to not spend his entire career with the team that selected him.
San Francisco 49ers (1994) 1 year
Dallas Cowboys (1995- 2000) 5 years
Washington Redskins (2000 - 2001) 1 year - retired
Baltimore Ravens - unretired (2004 - 2006) 2 years
BASEBALL
New York Yankees (1989–1990) 1 year
Atlanta Braves (1991–1994) 4 years
Cincinnati Reds (1994–1995) 1 year
San Francisco Giants (1995) 1 year
Cincinnati Reds (1997, 2001) 1 year each time
He's NEVER BEEN ANYWHERE longer than 5 years in his adult life! So JSU allowed themselves to get lulled into thinking it was a long term relationship and the way CU is going...All I have to say is if he does as well as he did JSU then LOVE IT WHILE IT LASTS...cuz by year 5 Coach Prime is going to be looking to level up to the pros and there WILL be lucrative offers!
Now if he were to do JSU the right way in terms of how he was talking about it...he should have had a 10 year plan. Improve the team...look to work with other HBCUs and try to get more funding thru govt, philanthropists and commercial contracts increased and solidified. While in the last 5 years groom his replacement at the school so that they're ready for his transition when he makes it.
There is NO WAY that he could have done that in 3 years. Also a lot of the improvements he brought to the school were closely tied to him personally. People made deals for HIM...not JSU in particular so if he wanted to have a lasting impact he needed to stay there at least 10 years as the new culture settled in.
At this point its really a big question on if JSU can continue the winning ways since he's literally draining their talent pool to make CU better.
Didn't they say as of now they don't have the bread to pay Deion?a whole lot of incentives in that contract.........gotdamn....
You also have to place blame on the HBCU'S Alumni which effects the endowmentIt is what it is.
This whole thing is more depressing to me than me feeling angry.
In the back of my mind this whole time, my subconscious was telling me, "aye, you know Deion won't be there long right?" Shit just wasn't adding up. But my conscious mind wanted to believe it would last longer. So as a graduate of J-State, I felt a lil butt hurt, still do, not gonna lie. I understand why dude left, I get it, I really do.
But I'm not blaming Deion, and I'm not blaming J-State, I blame THE SYSTEM OF WHITE SUPREMACY.
Jackson State got started as a school for negroes in 1877. Just a little more than 10 years after the Confederate army was defeated in battle near the Old Capital on State Street. The school started in Natchez, MS and later moved to Jackson, and was renamed Jackson College for Negro Teachers until 1967. Jackson State has NEVER been funded on the same level as Mississippi State or Ole Miss.
JSU's Endowment is $60 million.
MSU's is $690 million.
Ole Miss' is $775 million.
Alcorn State University's (HBCU) endowment is $18.7 million bro.
Mississippi Valley State University's endowment is $2.85 million bro.
Now do you really think the graduates of JSU go on to make the same amount of money as MSU & Ole Miss graduates????
Isn't there a racial wealth gap in Amerikkka???
![]()
Am I seeing things??? Or does the racial wealth gap in America coincide with the endowment gap between HBCU's & the white schools in Mississippi??
And if that indeed is the case, why in thee FUCK are Black people pointing fingers at EACH OTHER???
Make it make sense!!!
POINT YOUR FINGERS AT THESE CACS!!!!!
POINT YOUR FINGERS AT BRETT FARVE!!!![]()
You also have to place blame on the HBCU'S Alumni which effects the endowment
So you're saying a PWI degree is more valuable than an HBCU degreeYou just missed the entire point of what I said.
HBCU Alumni don't have the money that alumni from white institutions have! America as a whole has a racial wealth gap and it's reflected in the endowments these schools have! Yall cant see that???
People are acting as if whites go to white colleges, blacks go to black colleges, they all graduate and enter the workforce making the same amount of money, but niggas are just so stingy and greedy that they give 11-12 times LESS the money that white graduates give to their schools.
It's bullshit!!
The system of white supremacy is staring you right in the fucking face! Flexing on Black people and we're stuck pointing fingers at each other!
I wholeheartedly agree with this statement. If Black folks wanted Deion to stay at Jackson State then they should have been some major contributions to that school to make it a premier institution. Having worked with many JSU alumni I can't say whether they were donors to the school. Not only the alumni if we as a people wanted Deion to stay then all of these entertainers instead of just showing up on the sidelines should have been writing checks and every time any of us turned on the TV we should have seen JSU apparel on Jay Z, Diddy and other entertainers. Just my opinion.Deion said a whole lot in that press conference that folks need to take note of.

Bomani I KNOW I KNOW
but this sure seems legit to me
Even if it's not?
This is what all his detractors wanted right?
So is it enough now?
So you're saying a PWI degree is more valuable than an HBCU degree
