I had no idea Deion was only making 300k annually at JSU....I'm late asf. You gotta be a real crab in a barrel to be upset at that man for taking 29.5 MILLION over 5 years. Regardless of how you feel, the argument begins and ends when we start talking about compensation. Plus he was coming out of pocket for a lot. Dude was basically coaching for free and some people are still upset.
He wasn't coaching for free and many coaches give back while still coaching at a school. He took the FCS job because JSU was the ONLY school that would hire him WITHOUT having a degree or college coaching experience. 300K was the going rate for someone with his experience. You could argue that initially he was overpaid. People who are not deeply connect to the HCBU sports world don't understand that JSU saved his ass and he needed to show more gratitude and respect to JSU and the SWAC on the way out. That's why people are like good riddens.

The Pro Football Hall of Famer was brought in to turn around a program that posted six consecutive seasons without a winning record from 2014 to '19.
Let's not act like jsu had alot to lose in giving deion a chance. And dude DID deliver on his end. If he hadn't done well they would have ran his ass out of there in 3 years. Can we agree on that?

Don't get me wrong I do think deion gave the impression he'd be there long-term certainly longer than 3 years so they have right to feel some kind of way about such a quick departure but let's not act like they got gypped in the process.
I agree that he would gave been canned if he didn't perform. But, how he left was foul and didn't pay JSU their proper respects. He wasn't a savior of JSU or HBCUs. Just a football coach who cashed in.
Other than staying longer what proper way could he have left after just 3 years?

How was the way he left different from any other coach that got a better job? Why would he pay them any respect? JSU was shit before he came. He wanted the FSU job and didn't get it. The AD contacted him and said "I heard you are interested in coaching. Maybe should consider Jackson st." The notion that " they saved his ass" is absurd. They wanted to cash in on the notoriety of one of the top-2 most gifted professional athletes ever( the other being Bo Jackson, of course ), which they did.

Very true. Bo doesn't count. 4 years in the NFL. 1 pro-bowl. Never over 1,000 yards. MLB, 4 years over 100 games, 1 all-star appearance 30 hr's once.
Prime had a full NFL career and is the consensus GOAT at his position. Won 2 Superbowls. Deion played nine years in the MLB. Anybody that saw him play, how good could he have been if he was able to focus on baseball full-time?

He said the people showed up and showed out to support deion at home and away games and the school took a chance on letting him skipped the line to head coach...but lets just gloss over 3 winning seasons and two trophies after 6 years of losing.

if theres one thing that has to be given to Sanders is that hes been CONSISTENT in his behavior and actions all of his life. Sure he did GIVE the IMPRESSION he was in it for the long haul with JSU BUT there is absolutely NOTHING in his background that would suggest he was ever serious about staying at JSU long-term.
I'm kinda joking but I'm kinda NOT when I say that Deion is probably a very high functioning ADHD multitasker!!

He's NEVER BEEN ANYWHERE longer than 5 years in his adult life! So JSU allowed themselves to get lulled into thinking it was a long term relationship and the way CU is going...All I have to say is if he does as well as he did JSU then LOVE IT WHILE IT LASTS...cuz by year 5 Coach Prime is going to be looking to level up to the pros and there WILL be lucrative offers!
Now if he were to do JSU the right way in terms of how he was talking about it...he should have had a 10 year plan. Improve the team...look to work with other HBCUs and try to get more funding thru govt, philanthropists and commercial contracts increased and solidified. While in the last 5 years groom his replacement at the school so that they're ready for his transition when he makes it.
There is NO WAY that he could have done that in 3 years. Also a lot of the improvements he brought to the school were closely tied to him personally. People made deals for HIM...not JSU in particular so if he wanted to have a lasting impact he needed to stay there at least 10 years as the new culture settled in.
At this point its really a big question on if JSU can continue the winning ways since he's literally draining their talent pool to make CU better.
I agree with both of these assessments and I'm a little weary on if Colorado will let Coach Prime be Coach Prime. I mean the first shoe to drop was not letting Deion Sanders Jr. run the social media platform because what he posted didn't align with them. What????
