We are all still slaves so let's not play this e militant role, so all that liberation talk is fools gold. But if they are gonna pay reparations then free healthcare, free education, no taxes, and fixing the justice system would be a significant start .......
Dudes more concerned about administrative issues (who is going to get what) than they are with drafting a consensus Black American plan for reparations and what to do if they get or don't get it...now the media bout to push this White chick's plan to the forefront (and yes I know Black Americans have reparation plans out there but we all know if its done by Black folks it needs numbers to get media attention)
Let me help yall out with the administrative issue since it seems so hard to figure it out for some of you...you can't go all the way back to slavery because those records aint too great...pick a year like 1910 (or whichever one yall want) and say you must show family records proving USA roots going back that far....Africans only started migrating here in large numbers in the last few decades and there weren't that many Island people here back then....maybe a few Bahamians might sneak through from Florida and maybe a few other West Indians (Jamaicans, Haitian, Trinis, Bajans etc) might sneak through from NYC...it will be a statistically insignificant number though...there will be some ADOS who won't have records but interviews with their cousins, neighbors etc should be able to resolve that...after all, Island people are really only found in large numbers in a few metro areas....if someone is from Jackson, Mississippi and doesn't have family records, the odds are still high that the individual is ADOS...see? problem solved
Will people try to commit fraud? of course they will...when large money is being distributed fraud is always a concern...but fraud can be minimized...when you spend so much time on simple issues like this it makes it seem like you are more concerned with telling non ADOS you aint getting shit than trying to get the actual shit in the first place

There isn't free education or healthcare without stipulations; so its not free. People havent been really trying to fix the justice system. And even still it's not fixed. I don't believe in any of this. This conversation was centered around reparations so all of us have been commenting on what/ how it should be paid. There are many ways to skin a cat. I didn't know she was in politics. She has a rather large literary following. She has written several books, but A Course in Miracles was huge.
My sister feels constrained with traditional religion, ( I think it's because she only sees and relates to it in the legalistic sense), and the book was good in that it made spiritual principles, especially the positive uplifting ones, accessible and relatable. At the time my sister was reading it it was really expensive but she was real excited about it and wanted to buy me a copy of it. I flipped through it and the very first passage I laid eyes on was one equating God and Satan as concepts and principles rather than actual beings. So I looked at a few more pages and put the book down right there and declined the offer as it is giving spiritual law, some of which will basically work for anyone as it is LAW, without the salvation necessary to save souls or the recognition that Satan is a real being who seeks to destroy Christians and the things of God. I consider it similar to The Secret in that respect. The passage that came to mind for me was the one that speaks about having a form of godliness but denying it's power.
It helped my sister for quite a while, but when you have the message without the Master, it's only part of what you need. I haven't asked her about it since, but she always seems like she is searching to me.
Anyway, I saw all that to say that she has a white audience and Oprah viewers who will receptive to any and everything she says, so if folks want to get reparations into the mainstream, having someone like her who won't automatically put white folks on the defensive, might be another tool in the toolbox. Her following is HUGE.
