I used to live in that area.

That canal ends in an intake center on Jefferson. When they take water in from the river, that canal starts flowing really fast...just like a toilet.
Somebody's dog (a big one) ended up dead in the water. I could smell the carcass from Jefferson. The bloated corpse floated around--right in front of my house- for a bout 3 days. Then it came back for another day or two.

Had to chase people out of my yard CONSTANTLY for wanting to hang out, fish, and basically treat it like it was a park.

Almost ALL the houses in the area Jefferson-Chalmers have VERY SERIOUS plumbing issues. The city has NO diagram of the sewage system. It is a WRECK.

The backyard of my old house is now nearly completely submerged under water.

I left that neighborhood shortly after I heard on the radio, while having morning coffee, that two dismembered bodies, in suitcases, were found floating down the canal.

Looks nice. You wouldn't want to live there.

We're from the same hood. I don't recall that incident but I've seen some shit. I went into the army right when the crack epidemic started and by time I came home, almost all of my friends had been killed or were in jail. Growing up around that effects you in ways you don't even realize.

The house next to the bridge used to be a little candy shop. It was a big deal to me as a kid to finally be able to walk to the bridge store by myself.
Right after I went into the army, a crack head robbed her and she closed it down. Damn shame.

We never had any plumbing problems except during the first flood in the 70's but my dad was a pipe fitter who had plumbing skills. I remember as a kid going down to Lakewood park and putting up sandbags.

As lame as she looks I would listen to her over the majority of these drill rappers.

Had family back there you ain't never lied they had one of the few houses that had no issues but that smell sometimes was :puke: Best time to visit was during the winter when that shit damn near frozen. Some of the cacs didn't like my family being back there especially when they had get togethers , they moved out of there early 90s there house isn't even there anymore.

They were putting up sandbags about 3-4 years ago, on Alter and Ashland.

I grew up closer to Mack and Bewick, actually. But I lived in that neighborhood about 10 years ago.

I know there used to be a store waaaaay down at the end of Alter Rd, I think. We used to go down that way when I was a kid...
my grandfather used to launch his boat down there.

There are MANY grown folks who have lived their entire lives in Detroit, and have no idea that area exists.
