At 40k or 7.6 miles you should see around a 5 degree bend which is much less than the basketball that I posted, however if you were looking at it with your normal eyes (stereo vision) the degree would be much more perhaps a 10 degree bend... with a good 24 mm lens you could also get around a 10 degree bend...

Then how come we don't see a curve from 24 miles up?

So looking in a dictionary one would see that a plane would be defined as a flat place. So I think the ancients who did not have the technology called Earth a Planet because they had a flat Earth geocentric view. For the record I should have been more precise. Light can and does travel in a line but it can be bent as well under certain circumstances. Light itself is a wave which is a kind of spiral and that was the point I was trying to make about light itself.
