So what did DLH have to gain by fixing the fight? No. The fight was fixed. DLH could have lost 100X. He has/had Golden Boy Promotions. He was caking off of that before he stopped fighting. So it didn't matter that he won or lost. His legacy as a Mexican fighter is cemented in the boxing HOF and in the hearts of fight fans.
Hopkins was on a mission to make the most middleweight defenses of any middleweight champion, after the Trinidad fight he continued to fight the top middleweights at the time and his mandatories. Hopkins was middleweight champ so if Howard Eastman or Jermaine Taylor wanted to be champ they would have to fight Hopkins, whether DLH and Hopkins had fought or not. So you really believe that without DLH, Hopkins couldn't get a fight with Tarver or Joe Calzaghe? I think you're seriously underestimating Hopkins' popularity.Ok since he became a house hold name after Felix Trinidad... why was his opponents unknown after Trinidad. Look at the people he fought after trinidad then look at the people he fought after DLH. Ask your self, which opponents did he make MORE money on and which ones GOT HIM KNOWN!!!!
