No. The fight was fixed. DLH could have lost 100X. He has/had Golden Boy Promotions. He was caking off of that before he stopped fighting. So it didn't matter that he won or lost. His legacy as a Mexican fighter is cemented in the boxing HOF and in the hearts of fight fans.
So what did DLH have to gain by fixing the fight?
Ok since he became a house hold name after Felix Trinidad... why was his opponents unknown after Trinidad. Look at the people he fought after trinidad then look at the people he fought after DLH. Ask your self, which opponents did he make MORE money on and which ones GOT HIM KNOWN!!!!
Hopkins was on a mission to make the most middleweight defenses of any middleweight champion, after the Trinidad fight he continued to fight the top middleweights at the time and his mandatories. Hopkins was middleweight champ so if Howard Eastman or Jermaine Taylor wanted to be champ they would have to fight Hopkins, whether DLH and Hopkins had fought or not. So you really believe that without DLH, Hopkins couldn't get a fight with Tarver or Joe Calzaghe? I think you're seriously underestimating Hopkins' popularity.

But that's the thing, I'M NOT! Even he demanding there be change in boxing. He couldn't get those big money fights! Look at Floyd. If Floyd didn't fight DLH, he wouldn't be making all this money he is now. (Remember he hired 50 cent to run "Mayweather Promotions, while he was in prison, the nigga can't read, how is he gonna run a company? You just hire a bunch of mofos who can.) DLH is like the toll you pay in order to make it big. Not saying he's the best boxer, but he is also a smart business man. You see those checks Mayweather post on-line?! Oscar is writing those checks, so if he is writing the checks, what is DLH getting??? He knows the boxing game. A lot of these fights happen and a lot of them don't happen. The money gotta be right, PPV buys, TV money, sponsors, it's a hustle.

Boxers start out boxing wanting to be the best. But think about the punishment you take year after year and you still not making the money you thought you were AND you are 26-0. Your TEAM may be robbing you or your team just don't the game of "money". You get on with Golden Boy, YOU GOOD! Oscar and Floyd may have hated each other, but when fight night comes they are best friends... see that check?! A lot of times. the fights be fixed. Look at the Tyson and Ettiene fight... YOU TELL ME THAT WAS REAL??? LOLOL When Tyson was out, he didn't care, he was fighting a lot of bums and he got beat and whooped on by the elite fighters. Evander, Lennox, etc.

What did DLH gain? One of his biggest fighters.... he gained another fighter under his notch... B-Hop! He got more famous and more money fights after join DLH. Everytime B-Hop fought it is was a huge spectacle, remember? "father time", "will he do it again?" "he's too old", "surpasses George Foreman as the oldest champion, blah, blah, blah"... Doing interviews, all that is, is just more CHA-CHING for DLH and well deserved props and respect for B-hop, cuz he fought his whole life and got what he was looking for LATE in his career mid to late 30s. Good thing is, as he got older like you said, and became a skilled BOXER with good defense and didn't take a lot of punishment, so he can still enjoy the sport, and continue being the successful businessman side to side with Oscar.

I am not taking anything away from Bernard Hopkins. This is nothing that I have read. I am just a boxing fan. I watch and pay attention at how things play out. Before that DLH, no one wanted to fight Hopkins (no TOP fighters). His fights were boring. But you were going to lose!

Why do you feel a fight had to be fixed to accomplish any of that? If DLH wanted Hopkins to fight for Golden Boy, why not just make him an offer? DLH was not going to beat Hopkins. so I don't understand why you believe he would arrange to lose a fight he wasn't going to win anyway. Do you believe DLH took a dive, or Hopkins took it easy on him?

i believe in the liver shots! Not the outcome of THAT fight! Why not fight each other? It's boxing. It made more sense for DLH to lose, than to win. I stated my reasons. So you say there's no fixed matches in boxing?

So why not believe their fight was fixed?

If you believe DLH stayed down to avoid further punishment like Bruce Seldon vs Tyson I can buy that.
Why not fight each other?
I don't understand this question, they did fight. DLH wanted a middleweight title and a fight with DLH was the biggest fight out there for Hopkins, made perfect sense for them to fight.
It made more sense for DLH to lose, than to win.
DLH couldn't beat Hopkins on the best day of his life.
I stated my reasons.
Not really, you've implied that the fight was fixed to raise Hopkins' brand so that Golden Boy could profit but like I said before if DLH wanted Hopkins to fight for GB all he had to do was make him a offer.
So you say there's no fixed matches in boxing?
Never said that, of course there have been fixed matches.

So why not believe their fight was fixed?
Because there is no logical reason to fix this fight for Hopkins to win.

This is so stupid to me. I really wish Floyd wouldn't do this. Yeah it's a big pay day for Mayweather, easy money.

It's just a slap in the face to boxing imo, maybe a big fuck you to Dana White and UFC too but it's making a mockery of the sport to me.

McGregor has no respect in boxing. That cheapens this win. Giving a pay day to McGregor instead of a worthy boxing opponent.

He's given 49 worthy boxing opponents a pay day. Everybody knows this fight would be a spectacle, not a serious boxing match per se. Ali had matches with pro wrestlers and judo players... for the money. This is about sports entertainment, not purity of the sport.
