I'm making this right now. Had to sub out for whatever I had in the house.

Gas too high to be driving to the store for one item.

Need to do something with this sack of potatoes in the house si gonna do some garlic mashed potatoes while the chicken is cooking.

Later today I will do some Turkey spaghetti. Key is to make the sauce and freeze it in one serving size containers. Pull out when needed and make the spaghetti fresh.

Did some Turkey meatballs in the slow cooker yesterday. Just getting into slow cooking. It's great. Just dump everything in and chill the rest of the day.

Just worked out and needed a real meal so had some country fried steak, mashed potatoes and spinach sauteed in olive oil.

Its extreme. But I have come to find out that eating bad isn't about will power. It's about your gut Microbiome. It sends signals to the brain telling you what it wants. It was harder getting off salt and sugar than Fentanyl and Oxy. Those two-no problem, but sugar and salt. :( Stomach never hurts now bra. The only problem sometimes is I don't have anyone else to bounce shit off of because I don't know anyone who eats like I do. So, its like a science project eating mostly fermented foods. Because the nutritional content goes up sometimes I have to cut back on the fiber.

Man it's not often these days I have conversations I've never had before lol this one new though

The only time I got off sugar and salt was when I got locked up. When I finally had a real french fry my mouth damn near locked up lol. I was back to regular about 6 months after that but i definitely had a new awareness about the shit.

What's the deal with the fermented shit though? And do you ferment it yourself or buy it like that?

This is fascinating lol

I wish I knew how to upload pics I would show you what I have going on over here bra. I ferment anything I can except fish :puke: Cant do it. I never knew foods give off antinutrients that can cause inflammation to the body. Fermentation eats the sugars and produces good bacteria for your gut to ease the issue inflammation. I have oat groats that have been in the same water since last year. Smells bad bra, but for some reason its what my body ask for each day :dunno: Most people don't wanna hear about this stuff. They be like, this nikka. :roflmao:

What are oat groats?

I just love how the sound of oat groats simply flows of your tongue and it’s actually cute how the words rhyme together. Let’s dive into understanding the basics of what oat groats actually are.

Oats are a gluten-free whole grain that is rich in antioxidants, dietary fiber and an assortment of vitamins and minerals. There are a number of reasons to incorporate oats into a well balanced diet.

What is the difference between oats and oat groats?
Some grains are known as berries, but oats are referred to groats, or the de-hulled oat grain. Groats are the husked oat kernel, which include the cereal germ, the bran and the endosperm of the grain.

Groats are milled to remove the outer husk, and therefore, are the most intact form of the grain. They are packed with dietary fiber and are extremely nutritious.

Are oat groats good for you?

Oat groats are a fantastic source of dietary fiber, both soluble and insoluble. In addition, they contain potassium, calcium, magnesium, several different B-vitamins, vitamin E, and trace minerals such as manganese, copper, iron, phosphorus, selenium and zinc.

It’s fair to say that with all the positives, occasionally you face the negatives. Research has concluded that some people encounter oats side effects when eaten, which may be caused by an allergic reaction to the avenin protein within the grain.
Are oat groats better than steel cut oats?
Oats are high in soluble fiber, which makes them extra creamy when cooked. There is a slight difference between steel-cut, rolled and quick oats; however, they all come from the same cereal grain.

Oat groats are the whole kernel that is removed from the husk or hull. Steel cut oats and the whole oat groats that have been cut into two or three pieces. Cutting the grain reduces the cooking time, but doesn’t reduce the overall taste or nutritional value.

Steel-cut oats have a wonderful chewiness that has a tendency to surprise many people who have disavowed oatmeal in the past. It’s definitely not mushy gruel!

What do oat groats taste like?
Oat groats taste a bit nutty, almost like browned butter. They have a semi sweet flavor in a wholesome comfort food kind of way.

Soak them overnight to accelerate the cooking process, but that is not totally necessary. However, the texture remains quite chewy after being cooked.

They require longer cooking times to become tender. As a result, oat groats are best used in pilafs, porridges and stews.

How do you store oat groats?
Oat groats are rich in antioxidants, which make them a good storing grain. Learn how to store oatmeal to properly preserve nutrition and successfully extend the shelf life.

For the best storage conditions, pack them in airtight containers, use oxygen absorbers to remove moisture, and also store them in a cool, dark and dry place.

Reducing oxygen and moisture helps to preserve the nutritional integrity of the grain, and also prevents unwanted sprouting. In addition, use proper pest control methods to prevent insects and rodents from entering the storage containers.

Agreed. My dad just turned 75. I’ve given him credit as he’s always been a big veggie / produce person. He eats a balanced diet and gets enough chicken, beef and fish. But always has veggies with his dinners. He’s big on baking peppers, carrots, onions, regular and sweet potatoes, etc. Always makes extra to store in the fridge to complement follow-up meals. Doesn’t take much medication and stays on top of bloodwork, etc. Just needs to cut down on portion sizes and not eat as fast. Otherwise, he’s good.
