Lemme ask y'all a question:
I know that the gas is currently the winter blend, but doesn't it seem like gas seems to not last that long? Do you all think it has anything to do with the ethanol content? Seriously, I have a readout that tells me how much MPG I should expect with a fresh tank. Normal readout is 320 Miles distance. I fill up lately and it can be as low as 270 on a full tank.

They're fuckin with us.

years ago I noticed the difference in ethanol vs non ethanol gas

When I filled up with Non ethanol it took longer for my tank to move from full…
vs that other crap…

i always thought that had to do with driving habits. because in the beginning my readout was 420 miles now i'm lucky if it's 260

Nah...I actually chilled. 60 on the highway 65 max. Around town, around 35-40 and I try hypercruising since I have a MPG gauge. Depending on the gas, I watch it either go down gradually or rapidly. Off brand gas like WaWa and Royal Farms I don't expect anything great from. BP, Mobil is good for my car. Shell runs the best but V-Power is usually more expensive than anyone else in the area. I do not recall gas. Burning as quickly as it does.

As gas prices soar amid ban on Russian oil, will more drivers move to electric vehicles?
President Biden this week announced a ban on the import of Russian oil and gas because of the war in Ukraine. The decision is intended to put heightened economic pressure on Russia and President Vladimir Putin, but will also drive up fuel prices, which reached an average of $4.55 per gallon in Washington state on Tuesday.

“Defending freedom is going to cost,” Biden said, “and it’s going to cost us as well in the United States.”

But there could be a way to duck some of that financial hit for individual drivers: making the jump to electric vehicles.

“The savings from switching to an EV right now are so substantial that it can make [the purchase] worth it,” said Matthew Metz, founder and co-executive director of Coltura, a Seattle-based nonprofit advocating for EV use.

If you drive a lot, there’s no question, he said.

“If you’re using 100 gallons or more a month, you should definitely get an EV,” Metz said, adding that’s particularly true for lower-income drivers who are especially hard hit by the spiking gas prices.

Historically drivers have shifted to vehicles with greater fuel efficiency when prices at the pump rise. U.S. data going back to 1999 shows increased sales in hybrid and plug-in electric vehicles as gas got more expensive, and decreased sales in hybrids and EVs as gas prices declined.

see i did that yesterday. i was trailering one of the food carts about 60(120 round trip) miles. usually i drive with my foot on the pedal and push especially uphill, that usually ends up being almost a full tank round trip.

yesterday, i coasted and chilled, made sure i stayed in 6th and 7th gear, stayed at about 60-65, didn't push up hill just let it drop down to about 53-55 then let it climb back up on it's own. ended up using less than a half of a tank

I'm not heavy on the pedal as much as I used to. Plus I went from a 4 cylinder to 6 cylinder that takes premium (long story short, 4 cylinder became to costly to maintain, got a well maintained car from family). I subconsciously calculate where I have to go and sometime change up my route knowing that I'll either be sitting a stop light orcrawling through traffic (like going down NY and FL ave in DC). I watch that needle go Dooooooooooooooown. It didn't do that a year ago.

Interesting....

So my fuel pump in my car started acting up last year right when gas companies started with this winter blend bullshit. I talked to my service advisor at the dealership and he is the one that told me it's probably the winter blend. The issue worked itself out after a couple of weeks.

I see the "winter blend" being blamed but I will have to test when it gets warmer. I swear before I was filling up every 9-10 days on one tank. Now it's like every 6-7.

Sunday afternoon I made it home to Vegas.

My company had me stop at the local TA to top off before heading to the yard.

The 2022 Freightliner I drive has two 120 gallon tanks. I was just below 1/4 tank when I pulled up to the pump.

TA was charging $5.15/Gal for Diesel that day. You can see the price at the bottom. On top the cost and gallon amount.

I’m back on the road today after resetting my clock. That fuel will last me until Wednesday afternoon where I will be closing in to less than 1/2 tank. I typically fuel about 3 times a week averaging about 100 gallons a fill up.

I have a company issue fuel card. They pay for the fuel.

You cats going “I’m gonna own my own truck”….Do the math on how much your fuel costs will be for the week along with all other costs and expenses.

And do the math on how much you need to be pulling in a week.

Then you will understand why I and others don’t own a truck.

QNXQqtT.jpg

I made a post yesterday showing what I fueled this past Sunday.

I hit the road yesterday to SLC, UT for delivery. I drove about 417 miles. I was just under 3/4 tank when I arrived.

I got my next load with a pickup in SLC headed to Reno, NV which was just over 500 miles.

Our SLC terminal has a fuel island, so I topped off just over 60 gallons.

I headed out this morning for delivery, after delivery tonight, I got my new fuel solution to fill up in Reno, NV at the TA.

My next load is a pickup in Reno and taking it to San Bernardino, CA. That’s about 525 miles.

So, I topped off tonight and got 84 gallons at $5.49/gal. I don’t need DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid), but they were charging $4.25/gal. My DEF tank I think holds about 25 gal. A full tank can last about a week and a half. We have DEF at our terminals where I normally get it.

This is my 2nd fill up for the week. After delivery in South Cali, they will route me out of Cali. My company doesn’t want us fueling in Cali cuz of the high price. I should be just below 1/2 tank in South Cali. They will most likely have me top off either in Arizona or Nevada depending on which way I go. That will most likely happen sometime Friday.

With what I’m spending on each fill up, I would not be surprised if I’m pumping a weeks pay for some of you cats reading this.

These semi’s is one of the reasons you paying high prices for products. Everything you buy came delivered by a truck. These companies are offsetting the cost to the consumer….which is you.

I don’t know why you cats are stuck on the high gas price is cuz of Biden.

He ain’t got nothing to do with it.

The price hike is partly due to price gouging from Big Oil.

And when it comes to inflation at the store, that also has to do with price gouging, along with these companies offsetting the cost of fuel to get that product to the store shelf or your home.

Everything in your home, wherever you brought it or how it got delivered to your home. It came by a truck.

And the other cost being pushed on consumers is the cost to move this Beast across the Pacific Ocean lugging all that worthless junk from China.

I understand that because I’ve paid high ass gas prices before and he wasn’t president…

My question was more about voting for him, will assuming the final push for clean air act that was started in the early 70’s, would see a great push.

Knowing his push would affect my source of income by reducing the need for it.

So my question should we vote for the greater good of the world(per say) or what’s best for me and mines
