Anybody in the NC area get their conceal carry without having to take that mandatory 8hr class? I heard some ppl are taking VA conceal carry online courses to circumvent it but don't know how legitimate it is.

No. You must take the class and take a shooting test. The class is more like 10 hrs. Depending where you go, it can be broken into two classes.

The way I understand it, you take the VA online course, apply for the VA NON-RESIDENT concealed handgun permit , you are then able to conceal carry in NC because of their shared reciprocity with Va. Not sure that this is still current, but... :dunno:

Would that also allow for me to be able to purchase guns as well or just conceal carry?

You have to take the NC conceal class. Get the certificate. If you still live in Wake County (not stalking you remember I told you I live here too) you have to fill out the application online and they will give you an appointment to get fingerprinted. Then they will mail you the license. And yes you can buy handguns with it.

Yeah I'm still in Wake County & know about the process for the application & fingerprinting. Just dreading sitting in a class for 8 hrs. I have a few purchase permits so I'm good for a lil while but definitely want the conceal carry

It's safe to say I now have an addiction. Went and picked up a HK VP9 that's optic ready. I'm gonna have to hide the rest of my purchase permits from myself :smh:

We need to have a conversation about 30-06 rifles . Browning BAR , FN 49 and the M1 Garand
When I was in the market for a Bolt-Action, I narrowed my search down to three rifles: 30-06, 7mm Mag, and the 300Win Mag. I ended up buying the 300Win Mag (Winchester Model 70 Super Grade Maple).

I put in for an Elk hunt, and I didn't want to be lacking in hitting power (especially at distances >300 yards). All three of these rifles can reach out past 600 yards, but I'm a realist. 300 yards is my personal/ethical limit.

All three rifles are good for big North American Game. Plus, the ammo in these three calibers are plentiful. The ammo can also be expensive, though.

The 300Win Mag does have the most recoil out of the three. But, I felt that it would suit my needs the most.

Anyone in here a member of NAAGA (National African American Gun Association)? If so what are the benefits of having a membership?

The Lapua is a monster of a gun. That thing is effective at over 1700 yards. That's way beyond what I'm doing.
This build will FAR exceed my current abilities. I will be content, accurately going out to 500-600 yards. I'm seriously looking at the Ruger precision line, and still am deciding on glass. Those big boys (i.e. USO, NF, S&B, Steiner) cost a grip.

I hear you. In a lot of instances the glass can cost more than the gun. Leupold is perfect for my needs. NightForce, Steiner, and Trijicons are out of my league and beyond needs.

Man I'm in love with this tactical marlin 336xdr. Anyone have a build like this here?

Nah, but I do have a Henry Model X in .357 in-bound (well it's backordered). With these tactical lever actions becoming more and more popular, I figured what the hell, I'm in for one if not two... That Marlin is dope though...

I don't have actual hands on experience, but have read that the only drums worth running are the Magpul "D60" and the X-Products "X-15".
Yeah I've been seeing some good, some bad about the kci 50 rounders. I need to stop being cheap lol. I Got burned on some cheap 33 round 9mm glock mags before.

You can find a Magpul for $100. or so. I would go with that and not even mess with the KCI. As far as Glock mags, I've had decent results with ETS and Magpul, but try to run only OEM Glock mags, for peace of mind. If you buy a drum, it probably will sit in the safe after the thrill wears off, especially if you don't have access to a fun switch. I have drums for my Saiga 12, AK, and M10/45 and have never used any of them...
