At the end of the day, make this exact same movie without the gay aspect and no one would have even heard of this movie. Damn sho wouldnt have been nominated for any Oscars.

 Straight to Netflix joint

Maaaayne,

I wish I peeked in this thread before I let my wife drag me out to this.

All that being said, it was still a good movie. There was no graphic gay shit so I don't care.

You dudes watch the Logo channel, because there's no graphic gay shit too?
Nah. I'm just not scared to watch a movie where something gay happens. How do these scaredy cat dudes handle white comedies? They all have gay shit in them

Can't we all just be happy that two Brothers won an Oscar over some over-rated musical love letter to Hollywood?

Though now that win is defaulted by "the mistake".
Which I think is some bullshit.

Myself...

I would have preferred "FENCES".
But I'm still cool with "MOONLIGHT".

Yep, no clue till i saw them on the beach. Turned it off right there. looked at the girl sitting next to me and she hit me with the I had no clue face at the same time. We ready to rep Miami and well...they def repped the new Miami.

I was a well shot and well acted movie no question but if all you have to do is push the envelope to win trophys whats next. Gay cowboys to Gay hood dudes to what? Robot love? Animal love? Shit like this is playing people cuz its not a good plot. There is NO plot. Its a character study movie so I guess it doesnt need one. But then fucks the point of making a great movie when all you have to do is push the envelope further than the last one.

Watched the movie just before the Oscars. Good acting but I didn't feel it was the "Best Movie" nor did I feel it was a "Best Supporting Actor" award worthy performance.

I'm happy for their success but I didn't think it was a great or really even a good movie.

At the same token, isn't that the way we feel every year when the Oscars are presented?

My opinion has nothing to do with the gay aspect of the movie.

:lol::roflmao:you should've watched the trailer like i did, from the first scene showing them riding in the car i knew something was off from the way they were looking at each other and then when they showed that beach scene:smh::smh::smh:. I keep seeing this thread getting bumped and sometimes be like let me give this black movie a chance because some members are saying they watched it and didn't even know it was a gay movie aside from the beach scene THEN other members will come back and say the shit had a gay vibe almost from the start

Just saw the movie, I would say it was good but it could have been soooooo much better. A great opportunity was missed here. The director should have explored Naomi Harris and Mahershala Ali's character some more. Those performances were Oscar worthy.

The movie's pace is directed in a monotone style on purpose in its entirety where it needs to convey loneliness and isolation of being black and gay to the audience. The problem with that is that it doesn't leave room for much character growth or building of tension to keep you engaged in the main character.

The supporting characters were much more interesting than the main protagonist of the film.

For the 100 time I'm saying this, the script needed 60 more pages to be a coherent story .

:roflmao2::roflmao::roflmao2:

The movie was underwhelming, and it winning Best Picture is a backhanded compliment

Any one who praise this movie I truly believe is trolling. The Oscars was trolling big time. I think black people the only ones not in on the joke.

Really though. Cottonmouth was selling dope to his moms and taking this ninja on field trips?!?!? What was his name in the movie? Black Dynamite. Nobody in real life has a whorephanage.

Is you gonna stop selling me Rocks? Naw, cause you like that free child care service I offer while you smocking that glass dick. The other dealers don't offer that service.

Turrible

.... Was Chiron gay or was he taken advantage of? He had no concept of what being gay or a fag was. He only had homosexual contact with one guy on 2 incidents the were easily 15-20 yrs apart.

1. Mahershala Ali, Thandi Newton and Janelle Monae all put in some fantastic acting in this.

2. The actors who played Little and Chiron also put in some great work. The guy who played Chiron especially conveyed that awkward/introverted/emotionally abused vibe flawlessly.

3. All the wonderful acting in the world doesn't change the big picture: this movie got attention and rewards/awards for telling a story that a small group of people want pushed to the forefront of the public's mindspace. That big picture isn't going to be grasped by young people - or those who don't recognize the propaganda techniques being used - and "acceptance" is now spoon-fed as the order of the day. Not just acceptance of gayness per se, but tacit acceptance that in order to be a "success" in the eyes of these people you have to mould your life into working how they say or entertaining them how they say. You don't get to be a complex person, you don't get to be cunning or smart or witty or get revenge or seek justice and get those same rewards/awards in equal measure. Nah...you get to be workforce and entertainment, how someone else says you should. Never to your own benefit, never to the benefit of your people, even if it's to make an improvement in something ultimately empty as public perception.

Alla dem could step wide with that fuckery.

Too gay for me. Made me uncomfortable. Kept hoping toward the end that they wouldn't show any more.

It want the best movie, but the movie isn't as gay as most of you are making it out to be. There are network TV shows that have more gay content in a weeks episode than this movie.

I saw it and I didn't go through the thread I'm sure this has been said but you tell the same exact story and the main character isn't gay this movie gets no accolades. I'm happy for the brothers but let's keep it 100

Right there are a lot of underlying themes to this movie. They were showing you how someone weak can be turned out. Another theme is masculinity and what defines it

Game of Thrones had some gay shit. Cats are overexaggerating, like when you get caught in traffic and your wife says "you're always late".
