Has Game of Thrones spoiled you?

I can't watch shit without comparing it to GoT. Felt like I've been cheated out of some quality viewing pleasure.

I used to think True Blood was the shit until GoT, now when it comes on, I just go . Shit got me watching reruns of Spartacus...how are y'all fellow Thrones fans coping?

1st for me was the wire, still the best tv show ever!

That won't be the case at all. If a show still posses intrigue and great writing like breaking bad and a few handful of other shows you will keep coming back. Shows can't run forever and meet a natural end but the game of thrones is far removed from that fate as of yet.


Book 3 of game of thrones is considered the best one by many of the fans (including myself) and that will encompass seasons 3-4. If anything those 2 seasons will raise the bar.

Same thing happened to me with The Wire. I can never watch another police related show, they all seem like BS to me now.

There is no way possible. The books were way too bloody and well written. This season was not as good as last season but next season things are going to come together and some main characters will depart us. It's going to make things way more interesting especially for people who decide not to read the books and just watch the show. Sometimes I wish that I would have done that but season 1 got me hooked hard.

I have to agree with you. I was on Dexter but last season was horrible. Homeland is cool but I don't like the way that it ended. It was something about the way that they made the main character so vulnerable at the end. Didn't like it.

HBO fell off big time. Sunday night used to be the shit! Sopranos, Wire, Entourage,and later on Boardwalk Empire.

I wanted to get into True Blood but fuck all this love story B.S. It's impossible for me to give a fuck.

I was hopping for Luck to fill the voids left by Sopranos and The Wire. Well, we know how that ended.

Even Entourage rode off into the sunset riding side saddle (i.e. like a bitch!)

Games of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire will have to hold it down.

I was about to say, "How to Make It in America has some promise, but only time will tell". But, when I checked Wikipedia to see when season three starts, I found out that HBO cancelled it.

The silver lining in HBO falling off is that I took the time to give Showtime's Shameless, Californication, and House of Lies a chance.

boardwalk empire is a great show but for some reason I can't sit through and watch a whole episode in one sitting

it's a lot more complex than Cacs swinging swords at each other. On the surface it may appear that way but when you begin to peel through that facade you begin to pick up on the political intrigue, mystery, complex characters, and a well paced storyline for the most part where pivotal characters can die off at anytime and the bad guys win often.


In terms of its overall structure it is completely different from TV shows people are accustomed to seeing and that is why I think it is so popular. Mainly because it is a breath of fresh air.

Game of Thrones has definately raised the bar for 'niche' cable programing. When I mean niche I'm refering to shows like True Blood, Walking Dead, Sparatcus and Cinemax's Strikeback. I enjoy all those shows in different ways but Games delivers with the sex & violence but in general much deeper the shows mentioned above.

Game of Thrones is up there with legitmately great television shows like Breaking Bad, Mad Men & Homeland.
