All could have rode off into the sunset after that last championship...ring...belt etc BUT they always hang around longer than they should have. And instead of retiring while hoisting the trophy and leaving thru the front door triumphant... they stay until the wheels literally fall off then go out thru the side door.

People forget about his college years he rushed for like 2600 yards in one season in college with like 38 TD's lol. Every gave he was taking it like 80 yards. Probably the best college season of all time. Faulk had an amazing season too in college at San Diego State.

George st Pierre isn't the goat, he got knocked out by Matt serra and got the breaks beat off him in his retirement fight vs johnny Hendricks, coming back to fight in a different weight to beat a literally one eyed Micheal bisping also wasn't very impressive.

Nah that's just your interpretation. there have been plenty of bums on championship teams that have quit after they won the title. This is about on top of the game. In team sports if you are the best at your position you are on top.
