Ok....
I went into this not expecting anything. I watched it mainly to see what it was and didn't expect to make it past episode one before dropping it.
I made it to episode 3 before I knew it cuz this shit is actually pretty good and was better than what I expected.
If Kevin Smith had did the story they are doing here with the animation he used, this version probably would have been a instant cult classic in the future.
This series is made for children as young as 7 years old. The story is simple and not complicated and straight to the point. Humor that it has is there to appeal for kids as young as 7, it does not overwhelm the main flow of the story and it goes by quick with what they do, to a point as you watch it were you will eventually ignore it.
This is a reboot of the original 1980s series and does not follow it, only with characters.
There is a backstory to the series and they go into it in episodes 2 and 3 where Adam and Skeletor's origins are explained.
Adam is mainly portrayed the way he was in the original series. They give a quick Easter Egg in one episode in reference to his original costume from the series in a slick way. He also has not been labeled as "He-Man" at this point of the series. It is discussed at one point what his name should be. It also looks like He-Man has more powers and abilities than what he had in the original series with and without the sword in his possession.
Cringer is completely different from the original series. He is not a big pussy and is older and wiser. He has a backstory that has not been given yet fully. I have not made it past episode 3 at this point. At this point he is not Battlecat and I am real curious to know how he will be when that transformation happens..
Teela, also known as "Sorceress" is a Black chick. She has sorcery powers. Don't want to give anything away but the reboot of her character is well done unlike Kevin Smith's version and way different from the original series.
Duncan (Man-At-Arms) is depicted as a inexperienced teenager. He is smart and handy with technology, but nothing like what we saw in the original series and Kevin Smith version. He does not go by the name "Man-At-Arms" at this point in the series.
Ram Man has been changed to a girl. Her character goes by the name of Krass. She is not a idiot like in the original series and she is a asset with the group. It appears she has a little crush on Adam, but it is not definite at this point.
Skeletor makes his debut. He goes by the name Keldor which is his real name for the series and his backstory origin is explained in episodes 2 and 3 along with Adam's. The reboot of his character is done well and he is more sinister and devious unlike what we saw of him in the original series. At this point he is still in his human form in the series.
Evil-Lynn goes by the name Evelyn at this point and is basically the same as what we have seen in prior series.
Lock-Jaw is introduced and he goes by the name Kronis at this point of the story. He is not in the original form we know of him in the original series at this time. He also is not a idiot and is pretty intelligent. He operates with apprentices which have not been explained yet as why.
King Randor is introduced briefly in the show.
There are 10 episodes for season one that run for about 20 minutes. I am on episode 3 and will continue watching hopefully tomorrow and complete it before final review.
I looked up reviews and the series is getting good reviews. The main fault critics have is that it is geared toward kiddies unlike Kevin Smith's version.
This series has potential from what I am seeing. The animation is shitty, but story wise it is playing out decent.
