Heavy's confidence, intelligence, and talent was inspirational. Dude was an exceptional artist from an era that will be missed. I believe that he got sick while overseas. He'd just done a Tim Westwood show, which was a fantastic interview:
The disturbing thing is that you can take any of these modern rappers/entertainers and they're not even half as articulate, industry savvy, or full of perspective as this legend.
FUCK.
R.I.P. Man.

woooooooooooow, at a lost for words. For now I'm just gonna say: Go in peace brotha
and
With God's grace, a little bit of luck, and a lot of determination, I won't leave this earth for a very, very, very, very, very long time. But, when I do, I hope that I can leave a positive impact that is only a portion of the impact left by Heavy D. If I can do that then I will know I lived a good life.
Notable people die somewhat often. Rarely do we truly mourn someone we never knew. This one is different, this really has a lot of people hurt.
It's fucked up that we never know how special people are until they are gone.

If you've been listening to New York radio the past couple of weeks, you are not experiencing déjà vu. They're playing two new songs with the same beat — Beanie Sigel's "Feel It in the Air" and Black Rob's "Live From the Eastside." Believe it or not, it's not a case of one biting the other, but rather a serious case of miscommunication between producer Heavy D and the two rappers. "You know what? That's never happened to me in my life," Black Rob said last week at New York's Daddy's House studio. Rob's record came out about a month ago via the mixtape The Return of Black Rob. Sigel's song surfaced a couple of weeks ago. "Heavy D exclusively came here to give me that beat," Rob said. "With him coming over here exclusively to put that in my hands, I felt it's [just for] me. Heav's a family member, he's part of the Bad Boy Family. At the end of the day you gotta eat. I don't blame him. I got other joints that will blast off. That was just a hot joint, man. Good luck to Beans with that." Though Rob says he's not upset with the Heavster, he will admit to being disappointed because he'd wanted to use "Live From the Eastside" on his February 15 release, The Rob Report. "Heav was trying to send me another beat to substitute for that one, but it ain't working. I don't feel that same feel. That [beat] put me right in the heart of Uptown at Sugar Shack Lounge [with] the grimiest of n---as, the get-money n---as. That's where I needed to be."

Y'all don't get it. Racist/white supremacist festivities like HALLOWEEN are much more important than any African American pioneers of HipHop. This is BGOL, the so called BLACK BOARD/FORUM!

It seems that way.
Mods, stop bitching and put this one back on sticky....
Marley Marl put together a little tribute mix for the Overweight Lover....
“Yesterday I was informed of the untimely passing of my longtime friend and an artist that I made major hip hop history with. Dwight Meyers, better known as Heavy D. I am devastated by the horrible news. Dwight was one of the nicest people you would ever wanna know in your life time.”
“My condolences go out to the Meyers family and his extended family. My dude Hev, you will be missed by many. Have a peaceful journey, my friend… Enjoy and keep peace in your heart. Tell the people you care for that you love them. Any day could be your last…” – Marley Marl
