Hev, I never got a chance to meet you. But I got to know you
through every one of your albums I purchased throughout those
true hip hop years. I played your music at home for myself and family
and I played your music to thousands of hip hop and r&b lovers throughout
your whole career. I was happy to promote and support the hevster cos
your albums were ALWAYS stone cold Funky! and excellently produced.
The UK loved you Hev, and to see you recently doing your thing on that
awards show was like coming home to some warm, familiar glow.
And we all looked forward to more. Just like old times. I learnt about
your death whilst I was on holiday, sunning myself on some beach.
But I was too happy to be sad, cos I remembered your happy vibe and
found myself knodding to your music, even though nothing was playing.
I said to myself "Hev aint gone man", look at hiphopSoul, look at hiphopReggae
look at maryJBlige/pdiddy/badboy et all. None would be here if it hadn't been
for Hev. You just say Heavy D and it brings a smile your face cos you know that's
all his music ever did, make you and your whole fam..Smile, and Dance.
Through his music and his influence we will carry his weight forever
cos he ain't heavy..he's our brother.
