I loved the setup from this season. People who didn’t like this season I understand why but let’s just say this was the calm before the storm. Next season is going to be lit(literally). When you understand what happens from here, then you’ll appreciate what this season has done.

Vhagar didn’t like that sucker fire from Varrax. She was like, “Oh, that’s what we doing? I eat little hoes like you for breakfast. And I mean that literally.” Lmao!

These were young dragon riders who didn’t truly understand that they aren’t in control. Varrax was feeding off little dude’s fear. So he acted in that capacity. Vhagar is an old warrior who’s bout that life. Aemond thought he could play games, but Vhagar plays for keeps. I wonder how this sets up future event involving dragons doing what they do?

I know what happens in the books but the show is showing you what really happened instead of 2nd hand accounts. The beautiful thing about how the stories were written involving the Dance of the Dragons is that it leaves a lot of room to play with, but in a good way.

I just want "the main showdown" to be as epic as your mind visualized it when reading it. Cause if it does... Ooooooooooh shit!!!

GOT
Season 1: 10/10

HOD
Season 1: 8.5/10

My opinion

You gotta knock it down even more than that because of the almost complete lack of nudes. There was even a nudity warning on the Season Finale and I was like, did I miss it? Both shows were slow burns, but the nudes kept me engaged and I was way more invested in Ned Stark by the finale of GOT Season 1 than I was anyone on HOD.

I honestly wasn't expecting them to include the showdown between Aemond & Luke until next season. I thought they'd end this season with the King's death and the team green & black set up and then began next season with a bang by having the first dragon fight. But ending the season the way they did was perfect. It perfectly sets up next season to be a reflection of Viserys's words, "dragons are a power man should never have trifled with."

You see how quickly Arrax stop listening to little Luke when he felt threatened. That was the first time Arrax never dealt with a creature hunting him from above and you see how quickly he freaked out and starting spitting fire. And in return Vhagar stop listening to Aemond and went into kill mode the moment she felt even a little bit of fire on her face.

Rhaenyra said in this episode that when dragons fought dragon, everything burned. You see why now.
Targaryens controlling the dragons is the illusion. The dragons bond with and tolerate the Targaryens to an extend, but they also like being uncontested at the top of the food chain at all times. The second in-fighting breaks out, the dragons stop taking directions from the little white people on their backs and just start doing what dragons do.

I can't wait for season 2 (whenever the hell that will be).
Kinda nervous for that season 2 opening.
With over a year in-between seasons, it will be enough time for people to completely forget about that Beast beneath the boards. :scared:

To tell you the truth, this is NOT a cliffhanger. There is a big story that isn't finished but the episode ended completely.
What do you think the cliffhanger was? We know that Luke is dead. It would have been a cliff hanger if his death was ambiguous.

I don't like cliffhangers. Especially when you gotta wait over a year!

They should have ended the season after Aegon was crowned and Rhaenys escaped from the dragon pit.
