While every one is panicking about the Coronavirus. This about the flu.

“Flu season is hitting its stride right now in the US. So far, the CDC has estimated (based on weekly influenza surveillance data) that at least 12,000 people have died from influenza between Oct. 1, 2019 through Feb. 1, 2020, and the number of deaths may be as high as 30,000.”

So in four months the common flu has killed 4000 people per month (7,500 if it’s as high as 30k deaths in 4 months). In two months the Coronavirus has killed 2800, which breaks down to 1400 people per month.

It’s also true that many people do recover from the coronavirus but the media never reports that number. All they want to report are deaths. I’m even willing to go as far to say that your are more likely to die from the common flu than the Coronavirus.

the reported mortality rate for coronavirus is estimated to the 10-20 times that of the common flu. and for some reason it is much more contagious.

the comparison to the common flu is misleading.

So far this flu season, about 0.05% of people who caught the flu have died from the virus in the U.S., according to CDC data.

The death rate for COVID-19 appears to be higher than that of the flu.

In the study published Feb. 18 in the China CDC Weekly, researchers found a death rate from COVID-19 to be around 2.3% in mainland China. That's much higher than the death rate linked to flu, which is typically around 0.1% in the U.S., according to The New York Times.

Far more people become infected with influenza than the the coronavirus (as of now). The flu has a fatality rate of about %1 and corona is at about 3%. So, imagine if as many people in the US obtained corona as they do the common flu?

You kat would know better than me. I was just presenting numbers I found.

I know there are outliers and other stats that makes a difference in how numbers are reported.

From the same article. The outliers are older people.

Even so, the death rate for COVID-19 varied by location and an individual’s age, among other factors. For instance, in Hubei Province, the epicenter of the outbreak, the death rate reached 2.9%; in other provinces of China, that rate was just 0.4%. In addition, older adults have been hit the hardest. The death rate soars to 14.8% in those 80 and older; among those ages 70 to 79, the COVID-19 death rate in China seems to be about 8%; it’s 3.6% for those ages 60 to 69; 1.3% for 50 to 59; 0.4% for the age group 40 to 49; and just 0.2% for people ages 10 to 39. Nobody 9 and under has died of this coronavirus to date.

Allegedly, it depends on your sex, age and/or pre-existing conditions.

yeah, i saw that. but mortality is mortality.

however, they keep saying that old people are more susceptible.

but what about all of those young doctors that were dying including the initial whistleblower? keeping it real, i don't think china was giving the real mortality numbers and it is worse than they have reported.

Honestly. I have no idea what the truth really is.

I’m decyphering all this as it comes. Shit could be as bad as it sounds or it may not. I don’t know.

Rachel Maddow asked a very good question. How come children don't seem to be really affected by the virus? You'd think the mortality rate would be very high with those that are very young.

could mean something. could mean nothing.

As thousands of Taiwanese students went back to school on Tuesday (Feb. 25), 578 were found to have a fever.

After the end of the Lunar New Year break for primary and secondary schools, which was extended due to the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak, 578 students registered a fever on the first day of classes, announced Education Minister Pan Wen-chung (潘文忠) at a press conference on Wednesday (Feb. 26), according to CNA. Pan called on parents to take their children's temperature each day before they go to school.

I don’t do conspiracy. But I was thinking a while ago that the Coronavirus was man-made for population control in China. Can’t they trace the virus back to one person, or thing?

Possibly from contaminated lab animals that were sold under the table to the meat market

Used my lunch break to stock up on some essentials. Gonna do this everyday until I feel the crib is good to go for an extended period. I seen how Publix look before a hurricane, fuck that.
