I read an article that basically said the best prevention method is to wash your hands often, masks really don't help. They said germs that carry the virus are more likely to be on your hands from touching shit. We use our hands to dig in our eyes, ears & nose often... that's usually the quickest way to get sick.

This is going to get bad. It’s too contagious. Hospitals are going to be swamped with patients. 2-3% mortality seems low but it is not when you multiply it by large numbers. 2% of the US population is 6 million potentially dead people. Even if you take a fraction of that to represent fewer infected it’s still a lot of persons passing away early and that’s one country. Take 1/7 of the world’s population and multiply that by 2%...and that’s conservative.
That makes me think about all of the Homeless encampments and Tent Cities around the country. A virus sweeping through Skid Row would be devastating to them and I'll bet that a lot of Municipalities would be slow to react as it would be seen as a solution.
The Bay Area probably has the worse homeless problem in the Country. Oakland has several skid rows . They got huge tent cities under freeways all over here. Mostly been moved to West Oakland but they leave filth and trash all over. Virus breeding grounds
This was my concern regarding immigrants we have in custody. I had just recently told someone I wouldn't put it past Trump and Stephen Miller to intentionally place an infected person in their population. I can almost guarantee you they have no plan to test and quarantine folks. They already aren't getting basic medical care.
i know i sound crazy but i ended up buying some n95 respirators just in case this shit hits the fan. they are sold out everywhere online and pretty much anywhere locally. then i thought about paint stores and the first one i hit still had some in stock. so if any of you are interested in them try a local paint store or local hardware store. regular retailers like meijer, walmart, lowes, home depot are all out. you can't find one online either except for ebay where the prices are literally marked up 500-1000%
What this country can't do is allow this issue to be politicized. Now is not the time to be chasing cool points. Now is not the time to allow politicians on BOTH sides to act petty about shit.

One side believes in knowledge and science and the other doesn't. The man charged with "handling" this is currently fundraising. This shit is insane and people will die because of his incompetence. I worked from home today and it seems like pretty much everyone else did too. People are spooked and rightfully so considering that there are likely thousands infected here in the US...
