I really like the Apollo brand and the fact
They have service centers, one of which is local to NYC. The City 2022 and Air 2022 both seem like perfect scooters for their category - especially when you include the possibility of official aftermarket parts and out of warranty repair support.

Having ridden through the winter on a scooter and in the snow-salt dusted streets and rain, imma say that drum brakes make perfect sense for maintenance and scooters at 25mph and under. Disc brakes on scooters are a significant maintenance issue.

But official parts are the key. $1000+ scooter is ultimately where you want to be for safety and 3-5 years of service. You have to get access to parts. It’s also a great revenue stream for vendors.

I save soooo much money every month using a scooter (and folding bike). Only thing that scares me - car doors and Uhaul trucks…

Wear a helmet. Wear gloves. Long pants or knee pads. You fall different (confidently) in gear and take much less damage.

I've been saving sooo much money by using a scooter rather than taking cabs/driving. Jesus this thing has paid for itself 5 times over already.

I have to say, 15mph is the best speed for city scootering. I can go 22mph, but with potholes, asshole drivers, people opening doors suddenly in the bike lane, and dummies sharing the road riding other micromobility solutions - 15mph is about right for human reaction speed...

Disk, drum and ebrake, energy regen, 10" wheels, dual shocks in the front, rear motor of 500 watts. MINIMUM you need. Something like the Apollo Air.

That said, I'm rooting for the TAUR brother. Scooter is too expensive for me, but I do like it at about $800-$1000.
