Infamous Housing Projects

Shantytowns in SE Asia and favelas in Brazil make U.S. projects like look resorts though. There are certain favelas in Rio that the local police need Military escorts to enter.
"Vice" had a segment about Rio since it will be hosting the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympics. Shit is fucked up, what the drug lords don't control, crooked and ex-military does.

The whole episode is good, talking about how money is being wasted rebuilding Afghanistan, but the Rio part starts at 17:38 mark

To the rest of the country it's hard to tell the difference between the projects in NYC and regular apartments? All that shit look like projects. lol.

It's bad in Rio right now man.... they're killing police officers like they're ants right now... one of the favelas has a full scale war going...

Im interested in knowing how many public housing projects did Newark had in all when they all was up

Ive never saw a bigger PJs than Prince St (Stella Wright) but yrs later I learned its because it was a 3 in 1 cause they built Scudder Homes n Hayes Homes was right across

I spent my childhood till age of 17 growing up in Hayes Homes, building 65 apt 7e on 17th ave.

We should be owning things like this for our people. Indians were put on reservations and are given money each month but the first people in America were black. Just like every other place on the face of the earth we were systematically killed off.

In Queens the same thing, although they are bad Queensbridge is not really infamous. A lot of rappers come from there so it gets talked about. Infamous in Queens would be 40 Projects and Baisley projects. Supreme, Prince and the Supreme team ran their drug and murder empire out of there.

I use to talk to this chick who lived here
One night we were on the phone,
and the subject of "exes" came up...
She was telling me how her ex's family had money from owning a restaurant.
Because they had all this money...
She thought he was stupid for ALWAYS being in 40 projects...
NO LIE!
As she slept.
She was awakened by gun shots.
She went back to sleep.
Her girlfriend later called her cell and told her,
her ex was shot and killed in a dice game.

Prospect Plaza Houses; three vacant 12-story buildings in the process of being rehabilitated. (really in the Ocean Hill section of Brooklyn Community Board 16)
i've been going to these buildings since the 80's. I had some family in there. I believe they were knocked down a few years ago. Watch an old MOP video and you can see the buildings, as well as some of my relatives.
Been to queensbridge a few times, it really was hell on earth. Family lives in Lefrak.
Pink Houses.....yeah, stay away.
I grew up out in Coney Island. Gravesend projects, over the last few years, has been a war zone.

I worked a few murder cases in Marcy houses, but they aint hardly the worst projects in Brooklyn, or even Bed Sty for that matter. Tompkins houses and Louis Armstrong houses are worse than Marcy in Bed Sty. In Brooklyn you wanna talk about the worst, then you gotta talk about The Pink Houses or Cypress in East New York, or any project in Brownsville. Cops have to go 4 deep in some of those houses. Marcy is just infamous cause Jay-Z raps about it.

In Queens the same thing, although they are bad Queensbridge is not really infamous. A lot of rappers come from there so it gets talked about. Infamous in Queens would be 40 Projects and Baisley projects. Supreme, Prince and the Supreme team ran their drug and murder empire out of there.

Yeah i was expecting to see pink houses in the initial post

Grew up going to see family in there since the 70s, playing & swinging on them lil chained fence barriers.
Passed through Edenwald day last year
'Horseshoe' stand up.

No Redhook, Getty Sq or any of them shits in Y.O.? Trenton (the Bricks), Nwk (BrickCity), Central & South Jersey to Camden & the surrounding forgotten areas that look & feel like a bomb was dropped there?
Certain parts of MtVernon down the block from the Bx even though theyre residential have some ole other shit going on.

Connecticut had a bunch of town house pjs that were & are still a mess through Waterbury, Danbury, Bport, The Elm/New Haven (Ashman St was their only high rise that got torn down about 20 yrs ago) not even to mention the Heartbeat/Hartford ones. the crack/wet is heavy in the air (or literally in chicks' hair as whole families be fucked up in the game) & have seen kats get popped & chicks get buck__, leaking @ functions

These pjs aint got shit on India, certain Chinatowns (from China to NY) and other truly down trodden areas like them favelas fam mentioned where there are their own rules.
I grew up in Bridgeport, and back when I was coming up you didn't want to come thru the Father Panik Village pj's. We used to call that shit Beirut. I remember messing with a chick over there who had a dude at the time. I dropped her off at 4am, and she told me let me off up the block so nobody sees you dropping me off. I said what about you? She says "I got my 38 on me, and my brothers boys are out here working. I'm good". I said "38"? She said yup. Oh and during that time, per capita Bridgeport was top 5 in the nation for murders. For a few years running. Lastly, the city filed bankrupt during that time too. I had homeboys who were firemen, and their paychecks would bounce!

I've been in the Pink Houses,Marcy,Bushwick, and a few in east NY that I can't think of. Also every project in Oakland and 2 of the worst in SF. None of them can compare to New Orleans when it comes to poverty and actually feeling in danger. That said, projects are basically concentration camps where ignorance breeds.Especially in NYC.

those N.O PJ's look like a 3rd world country...the Calliope (sp) was always infamous like Cabrini for the wild ass violence and drugs

I'm from New Orleans, I know people from the Calliope, they'd be laughing their asses off at how scared yall are of them.

niggas either mention the Calliope or the 9th ward as the scariest parts of New Orleans, shit is comedy, especially with all these Otto Wambier look alikes walking around New Orleans now.
