Went to George W Carver exhibit at the California African American Museum. This instagram is a good synapsis. But it is missing GWC's acknowledgement of the reality of the Supreme Being. Not just talking about belief or religion.
To me, Carver was a reincarnation of our ancestors who arrived at self-knowledge through the study, invention & practice of agriculture. Cultivating the earth and ourselves. He like they, saw the hidden hand of the Creator in the life of plants and nature. And also in ourselves, because we are just like plants. Their is an unacknowledged agency in our lives from conception to our passing from the material reality.
Quotes by Dr. Carver:
"I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station through which God speaks to us every hour if we will only tune in."
"No books ever go into my laboratory. The thing I am to do and the way of doing it are revealed to me. I never have to grope for methods. The method is revealed to me the moment I am inspired to create something new. Without God to draw aside the curtain I would be helpless."
"Reading about nature is fine, but if a person walks in the woods and listens carefully, he can learn more than what is in books, for they speak with the voice of God."
"So I said, 'God, tell me the mystery of the peanut.' Then God said, 'Well George, that's more nearly your size.' And he told me."
Know thy self. Let Jah be praised and wicked man scatta...
