I like AOC standing up for Crockett. I strongly disagree with Charlemagne about Jasmine Crockett, whose act-a-fool approach is not as smart as Michelle Obama’s “when they go low, we go high.” Everyone shit on that after 2016 because Trump won but that wasn’t why. Crockett cursing and fueling “ghetto” characterizations is an inferior approach in the long-run.
AOC did a good job here.
And while I'm not a fan at all of respectability politics, I think Crockett comes across as someone that can't control her emotions and that's not a quality you want in a leader.
Sadly, in a society that thrives on conflict, she went viral and is incentivized to keep responding this way.

I get why you would think that but I am not so sure...Michelle Obama went high but that has not stopped her from being the victim of intense vitriol from the right. I can definitely see the value in going high when they go low but I do think there comes a time when you gotta punch somebody in the mouth. As long as Crockett is careful to show restraint moving forward, she should be fine. Matter of fact if someone does try to goad her in the future she should come right out and say "are you trying to provoke a response from me? Is that what the voters of XXX sent you to congress to do? I am here to address the needs of the American people".

I agree with Jasmine having to be one step ahead of those racist goblins. The Republicans are only in disrupt, deflect, and distract mode. The focus has to be on that. Because with them, there is no bottom. And being from Georgia, nothing makes me want to jump through the screen more than when ever MTG is on the screen.
