Don't have a huge dog in this fight, but to be clear: this was a hearing over trying to pass measures to impeach Merrick Garland. Republicans were grandstanding from the jump, and Dems were never going to go along with it anyway.
Half the reason the people in the room were on edge was because they were wasting time, and the other half was because they had already run deep into the evening because the GOP reps had to go kiss the ring at Trump's trial. Allegedly, some day drinking had occurred as well, so it was going to go south no matter what.
And Crockett might have got a little loud near the end of that exchange, but before that, she stood up for herself in an entirely measured and reasonable response. I respect the high road, but sometimes, you do have to remind people that they can't just walk all over you.

Although it is unfortunate that it came to that during a session, in this case, she did what had to be done. No amount of going high would have given mtg what she needed to get. She's protected in the house by her party's majority, and her seat is safe because of the make up of her district. There was literally nothing that could be done to hurt her other than getting smacked, literally or verbally. The verbal smack was the best choice. If Jas had started it, I'd say it was a bad idea, but she didn't go there first.
