I really hope Jon wins in impressive fashion
They gone say he beat a washed up Stipe and he’s dodging Tom but fuck em
He Beats Tom then what?
He calls the shots not the other way around
I hope the mega fight with Alex happens or he goes fight Francis

It would be a very interesting stylistic match-up for sure. See how their stand-up is countered by the other. How good is Alex's jiu jitsu & wrestling once Jones takes him down, etc.

In a perfect world ... we would get to see a great scrap with Jones and Miocic this coming Saturday. I.E. - the Gustaffson fight from 2013 ... 25 minutes ... all-out battle. Both people showing their strengths and weaknesses.

That would be a legit send-off for both guys if they choose to retire (Jones in his late-30s / Miocic in his early-40s).

Also ... with a Jones win ... we would get a better gauge of how he'd look were he to face Pereira or Aspinall in 2025.

The worst thing with the short fights (a la Jones vs. Gane in early-2023) is that it doesn't tell you enough about either fighter, win or lose.

Shoutout to Bronsteter who is credited for the above ^ - good dude - worked for TSN previously, and Sportsnet currently in their MMA division.

He's been around the sport a long time, and has a ton of respect for the fighters.

I used to listen to the TSN MMA Show podcast quite a bit that he co-hosted. Not sure if he does any more podcast work now that Sportsnet has the TV contract for the sport in Canada.

Max Holloway and Justin Gaethje have entered the thread, and approve of Jones' mindset.

Right, Jon Jones doesn't need to fight him, it does nothing for his legacy.
Not only does it do nothing for his legacy, but as humans, it’s natural for us to want the champion or the best to fight the next man until they lose. If Bones beats Tom Aspinall, folks will say he’s afraid of Poatan. If he beats Poatan, folks will say Derrick Lewis has enough power to dethrone him, etc. It’s never-ending until he loses, and then folks will be satisfied. He needs to walk away after this.

I still say it’s a very bad move to come of a four year hiatus and go right in there to fight an elite fighter. Stipe should’ve taken like two tune up fights.

He wants to eliminate ANY doubt

That he can come back and still rule the HW division
I’m not taking this fight lightly and I highly doubt Jones is. He’s a student first, he’s going to pick stipe apart and rightfully retire him
