Using her times from the trials, she would have been in 8th place with her 22.47 in the 200m and 0.2 seconds after last place with her 11.31.
As I mentioned before. I wish her well. But, she has too much ground to catch up on. The top runners in so many countries have been improving and breaking records. I just do not believe that she has the drive.
She is a whole half a second slower than last year. That's huge in a 10 second race.
I think theres a bit of overestimation about smokeys drawing appeal.
I don't think there's any debate that she's by far the biggest draw to casuals in this country, i know IG isn't everything but it is 1 metric in this era and she has the 2nd most IG followers in the sport behind only Alica Schmidt who is basically a model/influencer that happens to run the 400m mixed prelim relay leg for Germany. Shacarri is at 2.2 mil followers vs Sydneys 1mil followers despite Sydney having the true prodigy backstory.
yeah but how many of those followers are supporters of the SPORT?? And how many are following her just because of the controversy surrounding her? Extremely high follow counts can be considered empty calories when it doesn't boost the thing youre involved in.
So even tho she has 2 mil followers its a good guess that most of them aren't supporters of the sport like that AND theyre really all that interested in her personally....she just has a spectacle around her. Some controversy you can get on one side or the other and all of that is predicated on her either winning or keeping the shitstorm swirling.... and she aint winning right now...so, as the young people say, she chooses violence...and literally posted that on social media..

Its a damn shame and only encourages people to have their machines run on bullshit and spectacle rather than excelling at a thing.

Sha’carri needs to get back to being an athlete and not a celebrity athlete. All the Jamaican & American chicks kept saying was how hard they train. She need to get back on her grind and also get some media training. This is a damn business.

If she doesnt start winning consistently soon, her time will have passed...America was looking for a track darling before the Olympics and she seemed to be it until she fumbled it....now the USA has a genuine superstar in McClaughlin and an up and coming White star in Steiner....Sha'Carri is more dynamic personality wise than either of these 2 but personality will only carry you so far if you aint winning...then personality just begins to make you look weird

Biggest draw for casuals meaning not the very small amount of hardcore fans of the sport like myself in this country that actually will watch/follow the season etc. All the ppl I know who don't follow the sport will only watch when i tell them about a meet if she's racing, her social media following/engagement isn't everything but like I said it is 1 factor in this day and age
That's the thing tho is we're talking about growing the sport which would require bringing in new ppl that aren't fans of the sport, for those ppl they'll only tune in if there's an individual that interest them and currently she's the only American that draws interest to casuals here in this country. This isn't Europe where the likes of Duplantis, Ingebritsen, Warholm, Jacobs are huge stars and can really draw there. Even Dina Asher Smith is a bigger name among casuals in the UK than Allyson Felix is here when DAS is nowhere near as decorated or has the longevity of Felix

I'll have to disagree with this statement. A year ago I would say this may of been the case. Steiner probably has a bigger draw than her now. As for as casual fans go. Only people really supporting her now is the P-Valley crew. The rest of the casual fans have moved on to Steiner, Sydney, and a few others. Especially the white folks who got behind Steiner. And unlike Smokey, she actually made the national team and help win gold. Sydney doing some serious damage. She just not flashy like Smokey. But she shows up and about that action. NO TALKING..NO Twitter fingers..just about her business.
Smokey talk all that shit and can never back it up when it counts. Is there a such thing as little woman syndrome? She would have her fans believe she can throw hands too the way she talk. This what I was trying to explain a couple of days ago. Who knows what they could've done with better marketing and a more streamlined schedule. Get rid of that goofy hide and seek event list and up the marketing of your future stars. There's a pathway for more fan engagement. They just need to do some leg work to take advantage of the young talent coming up.
I thought the NBC schedule I posted was excellent. 1-2 days into the event they added the time zone that I was in (and everyone else
) and it was accurate.I also think my girl Athing MU is not getting enough love, she was a big attraction to me. I went out of my way to watch her events. As an old head I can really appreciate how intelligent she is and the way she carries herself.
That little bit of makeup does wonders for A Felix. She always looks cute, but the video she's looking tasty.
