Sha’Carrie Richardson accepted a 30-day suspension that ends July 27!!!
Richardson had what could have been a three-month sanction reduced to one month because she participated in a counseling program.

We don’t only support our own when they come in first place. We support our own, because they are OUR OWN. The Olympics is cool; if that’s one of HER goals. However, we are most concerned that our little sister wins the race of life, health, peace of mind and happiness. That’s more important. The Olympics has a history of using athletes’ bodies with no concern for that athlete’s mind. Then they cast them aside and move on to the next “fastest whatever.” As far as I’m concerned, the Olympics needs her more than she needs the Olympics. She is a star. If she never runs another meter; she is still a star. If she decides to become a nail technician instead; I support her. If our support for her is only based on how fast she can run from starter pistol to finish line then we have already failed her. All she wants to know is that people will love her beyond what her athletic ability can do for them. She made a misstep. She is “growing up in public.”That is difficult. She will bounce back. She is NOT an embarrassment. She is human. She is a Black woman dealing with real life in real time. Pay attention! There is something inside of this young sister that is far more powerful than her record breaking running legs. I pray God uses her to do something bigger than track and field. He already is; if we, but pay attention. This should be the catalyst for a long much-needed conversation about how we handle the inevitable mistakes of our young ones. When the world tears them down it is our divine duty to lift them up. If we can encourage Sha'Carri Richardson every time she crosses the finish line, but can’t encourage her to make it through real life trials and tribulations then WE have some growing up to do. More than anything, she needs her Village right now. #NewRules

Shelby Houlihan, tested positive for steroids just two weeks ago. Her response, “I ate a pork burrito the night before and that’s how it got in my system.” Been an Olympian and is known for winning races. In response, Nobody says Nothing!
Shacarri Richardson, tested positive for marijuana approximately a week ago. Her response, “I am human, I take full accountability for my actions and I am under a lot of pressure after losing my mom”, who died less than a week before the test”. In response, the whole world bashed her! Baby y’all can kiss my lil cousin black hind part DISRESPECTFULLY.

At the same time there is no uproar over her being suspended for 4 years.
No one is rallying to look passed her low levels of nandrolone so that she can compete.

These comparisons ppl doing

I agree with this. Yeah, weed is relatively harmless but using it when there are consequences is just stupid. Weed is legal in a lot of states now. But I'm a federal employee. I have to decide if getting high means more to me than my job and retirement. That's an easy answer for me. Now extrapolate that up to her choice: Getting high or being a celebrity world class athlete. This chick said "I'd rather get high". I don't see how anyone can say that's not stupid.

So dumb, he isn’t the first person I’ve seen saying. There were guys in the NBA who were suspended from the league while Stephen Jackson was playing, did he try and rally the rest of the NBA players to walk out? They’re acting like the Olympic people made up this rule just to target her, she broke the rules, was suspended and she accepted the suspension that should be the end of story

First, the vast majority of our responses out here on social media is influenced by being exposed to a white insecurist system, generation after generation.

There is no reason on God’s green earth why we are spewing whore like analysis of this young woman’s behavior. We are overreacting like a motherf*cker to this girl’s decisions as if she incurred a lifetime ban.

One. We…have all…been 21…without social media. Most of us are probably thanking our personal God’s that that is so. To excoriate this young lady in a public display of personal weakness is some b!tch sh!t

Two. Nobody on here can run as fast as her. Are we jealous? Are we envious? Are we projecting?

Three. This is a grown woman that we are treating like a child. Yes, she grew up in a non nuclear home. Yes she loves multiple hair colors and talons for nails, but how does that make her less of a woman? How does that mean since we are still stupid enough to fall for “respectability politics” we should impose that onto her generation.

Millenials and Gen Z look at Baby Boomers and the first two thirds of Gen X with a side eye. They can’t understand that if, and since, we know so much why we still tap dancing in front of society like we just stepped out of Jim Crow.

This muthaf*cka did not live with her birth mother, found out she died from a f*cking stranger and then needed to go out and literally run for her dream and from her nightmare, at the same damn time. Pressure got to her. 21, now, and she toked.

Admitted it. Held herself accountable. We still ain’t satisfied. Are you f*cking kidding me?

This board should be way better than that. I been here over 2 decades and many of you all’s attitudes towards women ain’t improved or gotten worse in that time frame.

Sh!t is disgusting.

Honestly I'm a little disappointed. people go a whole year without smoking for a jobs that pay $20 an hour. sprinters have the most sophisticated tests she shouldn't even be thinking about getting high or be around people that smoke.
I am disappointed that we have people who don’t smoke for a year just to make $20 an hour.
We should have more respect for the gifts and talents we have to not do this.

Straight giving their power away.

At least she smoked working in our gift.
It Kills me when mediocre motherfuckers question the discipline of GREATNESS. None of ya'll have the ability or discipline to be Olympic level anything but you want to question her drive and dedication GTFOH. I really hate all of you that would dare talk bad about this young black American woman who was on the verge of history.

Weed is not a performance enhancing substance. The fact that it can cause you to get banned shows the BS the Olympic committee is on. Do you ever notice they only test for weed for jobs that are low skilled. They don't test lawyers for weed engineers can toke all day, computer programmers, AOC administrators all can smoke all the weed they want but if you work at McDonalds lol you need to be sober as fuck lol. It ain't about the drugs it ain't about health it's about power. People in power want to control your bodies down to what you ingest that doesn't have shit to do with your job or your abilities. And the more power you have in the work context the less they can fuck with you. Athletes they still treat like fucking slaves.
Weed can be argued as a performance enhancing drug, however, I am lock stock and barrel on everything else you said.

I am embarrassed to be a Black man behind this sh!t right now.
It does if it's calming her nerves or relieving pain that other athletes have to deal with
I came to disagree, but got damn it, I let my emotions go and you are right.
Fuck! Gotta hear Steven A. Smiths shit about weed in the morning. Lol
Yep. She, has to hold this L and deal with the fall out. It should be a learning lesson for all young black up and coming athletes.

Some folks out the hood you just don’t let them “be themselves” without some type of guidance. As black folks we have learned to code switch. This young lady was clearly never taught the game.
Bruh, I am with you.

Let’s evolve the conversation though. When does a generation that looks like us get to Ronnie born, or a current living generation decide, that we aregoing to raise our legacies to be fully authentic?

Code switching is so normalized in our behavior we don’t even view it as trauma.

That…shit…is trauma. At home, I am one way.

Then, depending on what church I attended, school I went to or work environment I am in, I gotta be somebody else…for the rest of my LIFE?

When does it end? I made three bows to myself as a kid: I am not physically hitting my kids, I am not forcing Jesus down their throats and they growing up all Black for the first seven years of schooling so they can ALWAYS feel comfortable being their f*cking selves.

Personally, this woman should not change sh!t! No more respect will come with it. It will just make Black people feel better about themselves not being themselves in mixed company. Sh!t is more trouble than it’s worth. I struggle with it every f*cking day.

What’s your thoughts, Man? You have touched on a real reality in our community

No matter what, we have to exist in a country where being Black comes with real-life consequences. In turn, we are judged more harshly by society, especially by our own people.

You mentioned:

Then, depending on what church I attended, school I went to or work environment I am in, I gotta be somebody else…for the rest of my LIFE?

No, you're not being someone else. You're adjusting your language and your behaviors to adapt to the environment you're in. For example, how you behave in the workplace is different than your behavior with your homies. That doesn't mean you are changing who you are, you're just adjusting to existing within the environment you are in. That's a code switch.

A person should be multidimensional in this world. In the case of Sha'Carrie, it is no mystery that she is hood and has hood tendencies. Cool, it is what it is. A lot of folks that come from that environment and get into the spotlight want to remain who they are WITHOUT changing their behaviors to adjust. This is less about what we WANT and more about adapting to our situations. A person must learn that adapting should be a second nature habit.

Adapting is a never-ending thing. Society won't let me be stable in the way I would like. Hell, LIFE in general won't allow it.

We can look at code-switching from the black perspective or the human perspective. The Black perspective is stimulated by racism. The Human perspective is something everyone must do regardless of race.

White supremacy is real no doubt....with that said, I don't think it was a plot to get at shorty...why would America not want its best hope to run in one of the premier events of the games that it used to dominate but no longer does....USA wants the gold...they will treat Black folk like shit once they come home after the games....they were marketing her up to star status...of course they wanted her to fucking run....Olympics are for bragging rights

Is Jackson saying that all the other Black US olympic athletes who didn't fail any tests should boycott the games in solidarity of the lady who already accepted her sentence without a fight...Jackson talking just to talk...he played in a sport where the league championship was bigger than winning the Olympics in that sport...skipping the games ain't a big deal for NBA players...that ain't the case for most Olympic athletes

I think its more of the attention and coverage for good or bad Sha'Carri is getting for weed than that yt women is getting for doping...

Additional Sha'Carri took full accountability for her actions while the yt used a bullshit burrito excuse.

The Olympic committee knows damn well that Sha' Carri is a premier, marquee athlete that will bring spectators to the stadium in Tokyo and draw viewers to the television screen world wide.
You best believe that some of those advertisers sponsoring the Olympics put some pressure on them to lighten up on the suspension penalty.
