The problem is the winner doesn't have a big platform and few people outside her home country could spot her in a crowded mall, so even though she lost Sha'Carri is still the focus and she knows this. She did 2 post match interviews and the winner was asked directly about her despite winning. Sha'Carri knows she's the draw and cash cow so it's difficult to "humble" her in that scenario.

I thought it was a horrible idea for her to agree to this race in the first place. Just from an athletic point of view, those Jamaicans were in full form and fresh off the Olympics. Richardson’s last race was in JUNE. This was a terrible step up. Part of me thought that the Jamaicans chicks had no reason to care about this race, but it clear they went right back to training not long after they came back from Japan.
In my opinion, when Richardson got suspended, she didn’t do shit, especially after they told her she wasn’t going to compete in the relay. She probably ran some, but she wasn’t training like she was when prelims were going on. I honestly believe she started training again about two to three weeks ago. To come in dead last after the performances she was having in June had little to do with mental and mostly to do with lack of training.
I know when I played organized basketball, a two week layoff of not doing much made a world of difference in performance. This is a redeemable loss, but she is going to have to wait and stay motivated. She also will have to get her a better circle of people around her.

Watching it again, I can't help but imagine if Elaine Thompson manages to start getting starts and come out the blocks like how SAFP does. It would be totally unfair to the rest of the competition. Damn, I was looking forward to seeing this race..I knew that she wasnt on the same level as the jamaican sistas ( shelly ann, elaine etc.) but I was hoping she would come 4th maybe push for 3rd...the talk of her being robbed of a medal in the olympics wouldve been officially deaded but at least there would be some hype built up for her as a worthy contender, and more life breathed into her brand/marketing machine.
