Has anyone in the history of womens track and field remember a race being
so intriguing its talked about for DAYS..??
say what ever you want about all these athletes..
ALL THESE GODDESS JUST RAISED THE BAR
IN WOMENS SPORTS.
I dont remember womens track being this fun to watch.
Nobody gives a damn about that race, it’s just people enjoying talking shit to each other.
But to answer your question, no.
I'm not arguing that T & F is not experiencing a whole new level of interest and excitement. I'm just arguing about who deserves the credit for initiating it. It began with Usain Bolt and the new torch bearers are the Jamaican women. This is just my opinion. Try throwing a track meet minus the Jamaicans and see how much fan and sponsor interest you generate! Tickets for Olympic Track and Field events will be priced from hundreds of dollars to thousands of dollars in Paris. Try unloading those with a Jamaican pullout.if there were No NFL..
TRACK and FIELD would be on a whole new level...

Majority of Americans don't support track and field.
The "majority" of amerikkkans don't support ANY sport! According to Fox Sports, only 2% of people who describe themselves as pro football fans have ever attended an NFL game in their lives. So, can you imagine how infinitesimally small a percentage of ALL amerikkkans have attended an NFL game? Even far less for a pro track meet. The overwhelming majority of amerikkka and the world spends ZERO on sports tickets in any year.
Quote from a old Reuters story: https://cn.reuters.com/article/us-o...athletics-the-fun-factor-idUSSP30104020080822
After the success of the Jamaica team, athletics has taken over from cricket and soccer as the number one sport, because it has managed to combine the carefree brilliance exhibited by Brazilian soccer players with the physical power that West Indian fast bowlers once brought to cricket.
The impact of the Jamaicans, however, has been global. Athletics suddenly has personality and entertainment value.
Bolt has rapidly learnt the media skills a world-famous athlete needs, but is a refreshing change from the dry personae exhibited by the mass-produced athletes from the US collegiate system.
The lanky 22-year-old celebrates during the race, banging his chest, does silly dances and he yells into the television camera with a wide grin.
The Jamaican women, including gold medalists Shelley-Ann Fraser, Melaine Walker and Veronica-Campbell Brown, hug each other with affection and joy after their wins, victories that never look just like the completion of a task.
World athletics will see the impact of Bolt and company in the coming months in terms of sponsor interest, television viewing figures and crowds at meets but in Jamaica the'Beijing effect' could be the start of a sustained period of success.
Not really sure how one could even go about extrapolating that from the data I posted. Wow! Not sure if maybe I didn't make my point clear enough. Only 2% of over 328 million amerikkkans have ever been to an NFL game. Two percent of 328 million is SIX POINT FIVE MILLION PEOPLE so, no, that doesn't mean the roughly 80,000 people you see at a game aren't amerikkkans. Add the fact that the majority of attendees at NFL games are season ticket holders, so you're typically seeing the same people over and over again at each new game. But anyway .....So you are telling me every time I see a NFL, NBA game on tv, majority of ppl in the stands are not American?

While on this subject......
Speaking of running, I gotta run!
Track and field is among the least follow and watch sport here in the USA.
Don't get the troll started with this JDOS athlete.
What a concept...Humility is a profound characteristic to always have. In other words, "Learn to CTFU and just do the work." Let your skill speak for itself.
What a concept...

All this excitement is fuel by drama queens and kings.
Real track and field supporters know Sha'carri wasn't going to do much but if you talk some shit and post it on the net everybody go crazy.
I didn't even put that much value on the race because I know Tokyo was the missed opportunity.
Fun fact, Usain Bolt also came last in his first international race (2005 world track-and-field championships final)
There is a reason no one remembers or cares. It is up to Sha'carri to change her future outcomes.
He was actual injured in that race and pulled up but what most ppl don't remember is his first appearance at the Olympics in 2004.
It was horrible, because he was too hard head to realize he wasn't ready for that stage.

Usain Bolt also did not make himself into an international sideshow prior to his first international race.
